My wife put me on this site once she found out that I was dipping and I spoke to a few guys in here on Sunday Feb. 22nd and they were very helpful. I dipped about a can a day for about 3- 4 years and less before that. I satrted as an occasional dipper and went to a tin a week and it progressed from there. In all I have been dippip about 10 years. Things have been going well and I have changed my mentality and that seems to be the key. When we would go on vacation I would not dip for a week or two because I never did it around my family. There were many weekends that I never dipped because we werer together. I have changes my mentality to the way I not think about it when we are together. My problem has always been thinking when would I have time for a dip. I now do not even think about when or how one would taste. I know that it is quite early in the quit stage but I am hoping that it continues to go well for me.
welcome!

so at this point are you quit or deciding to quit?

Welcome chiz youv'e made a great decision. I will back up what JP said earlier the quit must be your quit and not just because your wife told you to do it. I won't lie, life will get rough in the next few weeks and you will be full of what we call "nic rage" if you are quitting for your wife, you will blame her for the way you are feeling. that;s what this site is for, take your rage, concerns, fears, etc.. out on us and leave your family and friends alone.

Here are some links that may help...

Your quit group is June 09... here ....

Welcome. I'm not sure what they said in chat, but you have to make sure you're quit is you're quit and not your wife's.

I used to do the same thing you did for a while. I wouldn't dip at night or on the weekends when my wife was around. If she went shopping or something I would seriously get a huge smile because I knew I could have a big ol' chew and watch TV. Then eventually she found out and I started doing it all the time for about 6 months then quit and found this site.

Go over to June '09 and post up if you haven't already. You can do this. Will it suck? Yes. Will you succeed? One day at a time. Worry about tomorrow then, today is your day.
