Change your mindset brother... shuck off that desperation and fear.

Get pissed off.

Really pissed off.

Why?... Nicotine stole from you. Your time. Your money. Your health. Your self confidence. Your good sense. It turned us all into needy slaves, man. I dunno about you but that pisses me off!

Jump in and join a Quit group. They know... we all know... what you're going through. Freedom is here, dude... come get it.
Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten.

Thank you so much I wish I would have never listened to her and got the nicotine back in my system after 30 days with nothing but I will try again. Also now having severe anxiety when not on the patch. This is rough guys
Cancer is rougher. I cried like baby on day 3. Quitting is hard, but if I can do, so can you.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Unfortunately there's no short cut through the withdrawal. You're going to feel miserable for a while. How long, varies from person to person, but it does get better. It won't happen as fast as you'd like for it to or as quickly as you think it ought to, but there will come a day when you'll feel better than your old self because you're not chained to that can anymore, having to drop what you're doing every couple of hours to put out the fire of withdrawal. For me during the 1st year things improved gradually over the months, 9 or 10 months down the road but then I'd have days when my addict brain would crave hard and try to convince me that nicotine was the best thing I had going in my life. But now, after a year, things have improved dramatically, I feel like a completely different person. I still get cravings from time to time but for the most part I feel like that agony I went through last year was so worth it.

I'd been trying to quit for over 30 years unsuccessfully. What made the difference was joining this site and posting my promise everyday and getting to know my fellow quitters. 450 days ago that seemed kind of lame and I was just sure it wouldn't work, but now 450 days later I'm finally through with that stuff.

Join your group, post roll everyday, it works

Mike 450 days quit
Just one and you will be back where you started.
And where you started was desperately wishing
you were where you are right now.

Have you considered joining a quit group? Those guys are going through the same stuff as you are. By going through it together you'll develop the accountability and brotherhood that make this place work. You can do this. If i can do this, you can. Yesterday was 2 years quit for me. It is worth all the toil you will go through to free yourself from the slavery of addiction.

Join up CJ. Start posting with your group and get down and dirty. Embrace it. It won't always suck this bad, I promise.
"Fuck nicotine dude. You don't need it. And you don't want it. It didn't do a thing for you and you know it." - worktowin
"today you dissided that shit wont control your life. and it wont. unless you let it." - drome
"Not thinking about nicotine is for people who've never used nicotine. We threw that option away with the first dip or drag on a cigarette. We are addicts, and cannot become un-addicted." - wildirish317
"You need to decide how much you really want to be quit." - pky1520
We are always at risk. And probably always will be. That is why I will never get "too quit" to post my +1. Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597

Quit dip cold turkey for 2 weeks. At the two week mark intense brain fog set in. I delt with this for two weeks. It is awful. I had no desire to use dip at all at this point. I could not deal with the constant fog with trying to work and my relationship. Went to the doctor and she told me to use chantix or nicotine patches. I chose the patches thinking that would bring me out of this fog instead of chantix because I had no desire to dip. I used the patches for a couple days and they did not change anything. I then broke down and used dip again it improved my mood but I still do not feel like myself at all. I still have no desire to use dip I'm just doing it to somewhat feel normal but still not out of this fog. Also now expirencing anxiety attacks. Can anyone please help me. I know this is a quit site but how long does it take to get back to normal after relapsing ? I don't want to use but I'm desperate for my quality of life to return. Someone please help me
Best overview of what to expect is here: https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/wh ... t-dipping/

A couple notes: the first couple to 3 weeks can really suck. The way we stand it is to quit one day at a time, with support of others in our quit group who are at the same point in our quit and those who have quit for a longer time. The general advice is to 1: drink lots of water, then drink more water; 2. exercise (even long walks help); 3. read all the good words here on the site.

The second thing is doctors will look for a pill. Sometimes that is not the best answer. Quit is one of those things which you simply need to hang on by whatever means and get through it. Nicotine is the enemy, the patch just extends that fog longer. Stop the patch. Do the cold turkey. Join the quit groups and post a day 1 with us.

You can do this, especially with the support available here.
