Welcome Neil, as you've figured out, you are in for an extended battle with this addiction. You're never actually cured, but it does get a lot better. This site and the community here can be an extremely valuable tool. You've got people here who know exactly what you're going through and can help guide the way.

The price of entry here is posting roll. Roll represents your daily promise not to use nicotine today. You make that promise first thing, as soon as you are reasonably able to, every day. Then you keep that promise. No matter what happens during the day, you gave your word that you would not go to sleep with nicotine in your system. You wake up and make that same promise again.

This is your quit group. Instructions for posting roll can be found there. It's a little bit complicated, but do your best and you'll figure it out.

I'd encourage you to get to know the others in your quit group and exchange contact information. These people are battling the same thing and you will lean on them when things get difficult.

Let me know if I can help.

Neil,

Welcome! First off, congratulations on the baby and second congratulations on making this decision to join all of us in this battle against nicotine. Sounds like you are realizing this but we are all addicts. There is no magic quit word , or super secret handshakes we do to make sure we quit. We WUPP EDD! (Wake Up Piss Post Every Damn Day)! That is how we stay quit. We post our word and we keep it every day. It's not easy but it gets better every single day. Dive in, meet some folk and quit on! PM me if I can help in anyway. Welcome aboard!
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate the welcome.

My Intro
« on: February 21, 2017, 02:36:00 PM »
Okay, so I am new here. I figure I will follow protocol and tell you a bit about me and my chew struggle. I have been chewing for 16 years, I started when I was about 17 years old, so that will sort of give away my age. My dip of choice used to be long cut skoal, but I work in a professional environment, so I transitioned to pouches so my habit would be less obvious. My wife has been fairly accepting of my dipping habit for years, we have been together since high school, but she has rightfully grown tired of the "spitters" in our house and the fact that I almost constantly have a dip in my mouth. We also are expecting our first child any-day now and I told my wife I would quit before the kid gets here. I quit about 5 days ago and I have had no nicotine since. I have handled it okay, but I still have really strong cravings of course and I am not naive, I know my cravings are not going to go away anytime soon. I just thought it would be a good idea for me to join a support group and be able to talk through it. Hopefully that is a positive first step. Thanks.
