So, I am 46 yrs old and have chewed for 17yrs. I have quit a dozen times but have never tried a program or web site to help me quit. My question is what here will help me? I am not very computer savvy so how do I get the most out of this site? I quit today and threw all my cans out. Thanks in advance
Howler,
Computer issues aside, you have passed the biggest hurdle so far...you decided to quit. Now it's a matter of how bad you want it.
I'm going to give you a road map to read. Make sure you come back here to this page as home base after each step.
First,
click here to see what you can expect when you quit, then
click here to see the symptoms of quitting.
Next,
click here to read the Welcome Center. Concentrate on how and why this site works. You'll notice that posting roll is the backbone of this site. Post roll daily, no messing around. Do it early in the day, hopefully within a few minutes of waking up. Keep your promise. Use this site and its tools to stay quit. Sleep. Repeat.
Next,
click here to see how to post roll. It's not the easiest thing in the world, especially for someone who isn't quite computer oriented, but I think that video will help you. Regardless, TRY! Do not give up. As far as where to post, you will be part of the
November 2012 quit group. It will be in November when you hit your 100 days, so that's your group.
Those are the basics.
Outside of that, drink as much water as you can, exercise when you get bad cravings, and stay close to the website as much as possible for the next 3 or 4 days. Read as much as you can, check out the Live Chat (link at the top right of the page), and ask questions and participate in your group.
Lastly, going back to the can is a choice. The next week or so is going to be tough. It's gonna be hard. There's no way around that. It's all in how bad you want to quit. Post roll every day, early, and keep your promise. We are here to help you through. We are your brothers in this fight. Rely on us to help.
