If anyone wants to track me down through my wife, please remember that the telephone naturally drops the voice a few octaves. And if you go the facebook route, that's not an adams apple on her profille pic.

Assholes.
If I don't post for a couple of days, please feel free to swing by the house and let my wife know I'm hiding somewhere with a facefull o death. It might be true but really.....who needs to know for sure. Just say it.
I've always wanted to save a life, so I started with mine.

LOOT thinks if a guy gives out his personal info, its not a goddamned invitation to turn into a private detective and track his ass down thru his wife...thats bullshit and in LOOT's opinion waaaay over the fucking top.
I kind of figured this was the heart of Loot's problem with me as he was one of the only ones who spoke out against me in that situation.
uh no...

that aint the heart of it...you miss the fucking point...that was simply exhibit B

exhibit A was and will remain...making roll call for a guy who has a total of 2 fuckin posts...get it?

this exchange is doing no one in this intro any good...if you wanna debate the merits of LOOTs position we can do it privately...or we'll take it your house...your call
exhibit c - MikeA is just trying to help people, most people have supported everything I have done in that effort. I am sorry that you are not one of those people.

I am sorry for the commotion, you win

Hi I'm David26 This is my first day of quitting I have dipped Copenhagen for 8 years now and its time to end my addiction. I don't know how to navigate through the site or join a group. All I know is that I want this and I am committed to make a life long change no more excuses.

-David
Getting back to you David. I hope we see you very soon in the May quit group. I'd like to add that one of the great things about this website is the diversity of people here. With that diversity comes problems like any family. Yes, we are a family here and occassionally we run into problems. But what makes this place great that even though we argue from time to time we will always be there to help each other out. Mike and Loot might have a bit of a tif going on right now but I am willing to bet that if either needs a helping hand with their quit that they both will be there to help each other.

Now get over to May and start saving your life. Post roll. Give your word that you will not dip today. Today is the first day of your life. Welcome aboard.

I took this as your day 1 pledge not to dip. I put your name on roll call for May. Now, you cannot dip today. This was your promise and you will not go back on it.
dont post roll for people

posting roll is an important personal affirmation

teach him how to post roll...but make sure he understands the importance of doing it...make sure he knows why we do it

but for fucks sake dont do it for him

as much as you may think you can quit for him Mike...you cant...

its the nature of the beast
WOW, I have only seen this done like all the time. Someone can't post roll so someone does it for them...happens everyday. In this situation he is new and getting used to the site and I wanted to get his name on the roll call where he belongs. Not a lot of people visit this area and his group may not know he is here.
No, you have not seen this done all the time. There is a distinct difference between someone giving their word in chat or in a text and that being transfered into a roll call and someone pledging a "want" to quit and running off to post their roll.

Like Loot points out, roll call is the equivalent of saying "I promise not to dip." Those words can be re-said for someone in a different room, but not said for someone.
There was some more conversation about this in April-2010. I understand that there was conversation with David26 in chat, and that he made it apparent there that he wanted to post roll but didn't know how. I think Mike's intentions were in the right place, but his clarity and presentation in this intro topic could use some work. :D
Thank you NKT, I would agree.

I also think that the bold statement "Do not post roll for people" needs come clarity also.
LOOT thinks a lot of shit goes without saying

LOOT thinks if dude sends you a text with his roll and asks you to hit roll for him...fine. But to take an intro post and run off to post roll for a dude who may not get the concept is wrong.

LOOT thinks if a guy gives out his personal info, its not a goddamned invitation to turn into a private detective and track his ass down thru his wife...thats bullshit and in LOOT's opinion waaaay over the fucking top.

LOOT also thinks some common fucking sense and compassion for a quitter goes a long fuckin way. a saying comes to mind...something about handing a fucker a fish and feeding him once or equiping the fucker with a pole so he be self sufficient.

its just LOOTs opinion, which doesnt hold much weight, but there is a huge difference in making a roll post for someone who has been around a while and gets the concept...or picking a guy up at the grocery store and making roll for him cause he told you he needed to quit.

carry on...
