You've done step 1. That's hard to do. Just admitting you don't need it anymore and throwing the very thing you held precious, your dip, away is hard to do. It's been your best friend and your guilty pleasure.

Now come the really hard part, staying quit. After all this time that I've quit, It's still hard for me to walk past the cigarette and snuff section when we shop at the local grocery or at Wal Mart. But I realize that I made a promise to my group, my family, my wife and most importantly myself, that I wouldn't put that crap in my mouth anymore.

We're here for you and if you think about caving in, contact someone right then! Email them, pm them, call them, heck, send smoke signals, but let someone help you through those hard times. You've got a wife that loves you and I bet she'll do anything to help you stay quit. Good luck and God Bless you. Thank you so much for your service to our country!!
Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Sam,

Ive been meaning to post this for weeks now. PM me your number and I'll do the same. You should also do it with bennythekid and engineer. We're all quit on the same day, and I hate when I'm the first to post because then I have to figure out what day we're on. Seriously, part of keeping myself quit involves looking for you three guys on roll. My girlfriend will tell you I get a little wired when it gets later in the day and I don't see you. Engineer and benny will also tell you that I will fire off a text with the quickness if it gets too late.

Glad to be quit with you.

Seth

Sam, so glad you are here with us and QUIT.

I too lied about this to my wife for 9 years - so if you need a person to talk to about it all PM me.

Stay strong, remain faithful and promise each day never to use it again. It'll be so hard at first, but it does get easier. There are a lot of guys here who just had baby daughters, they can help motivate you...seek them out. There is a lot of great information on the site too...read all you can.

Thank you for serving our country, you are an honorable MAN so I know your word is good here.
HOF: 17-JUL-2010

My Intro
« on: August 04, 2010, 11:13:00 AM »
Here are some things about me. I joined the army when I was 17 and love it; I am now 26. I have been to Kuwait and am getting ready for a trip to Afghanistan. 2.5 years ago I became a Corrections Officer and I love it. Being in Corrections does not get the same attention that a street cop gets but I love being able to work with the inmates and try to correct their behavior so they don't come back to prison. I have been married for 5 years to my wonderful wife Lela and I can imagine where I would be without her. In November Lela and I will be having our first kid (it's a girl).
I started to chew when I was 16 and my boss gave me a dip on the job site, which was 9 years ago. When I quit I was going though a can a day at $6 a can. When I had married my wife I had told her that I had quit; and I did for about a month. Keeping this secret from my wife was stressing me out so bad that I would curl up with a can just to feel better. At this time I would start to feel like the worst person in the world because I was lying, so what did I do? You got it, pack my lip again. When I joined the web-site I was finely able to work up the courage to let her know. She was upset for a while but now she is someone that I can hold onto when I think I am going to fall. I know that with the support from my group and Lela that I will be able to beat this addition.
