ImaSkoalMan - We’re headin’ back to the great state of Texas again to go pick up imaskoalman. A man after my own heart if I still dipped that stuff… Anyway imaskoalman lives in Tomball, Tx, but originates from CA, not before shooting all over the map growing up. He is been married now for 20 years and has 2 kids, 13 and 11. This guy seems to have liked nicotine ever since he was 15 years old alternating between smokin and dippin and then smokin/dippin. Of course that all ended on the 2nd of October of last year when he said no more nic ever! Now his F350 King Ranch Crew Cab Dually smells clean and is dip stain free! Some words of the day from this quitter are: “Just make it through the first couple of weeks, then it's all downhill from there. And NEVER believe that you can just take one dip for old times sake. You'll end up being a dipper again. I speak from experience there.”
He is bringing a fine beef brisket with him on the train so yes some more good eatin today! Imaskoal says that among all of the famed quitters here at KTC that sportsfan stands out as the most inspiring quitter, but does give punkin a close second to that title. He asks that we give his wife a call if anything happens on the train, but he feels pretty confident of his ride today. He will not officially sign up for 200 days but will be around this site for many days to come. Congrats on dippin no mo skoal, goes to imaskoalman today!!!!! Gotta get me some diesel cause we are cruising on back to the top of this great quitting countryÂ….

Traveling.
Away from my family.
No one else to stop me from picking up a can.
No one would even know.
I can just take one dip and throw the can away.

These are the stupid thoughts that had ruined every quit I've had in the past. Well, two times before actually. I'd be quit a few days, then go on a trip, and tell myself "Ill just dip when I'm out of town. That'll be OK." Then I'm dipping again... After 15 days quit, I'm having those thoughts again. I thought the craves would be better by now, but leaving town has really made them worse.

I know it'll pass in a few minutes, but it sucks. Can't wait to be home tomorrow.

Sorry. Venting helps...
Don't be sorry bro, like Bean  Griz have said, that's what we're all here for, to post roll  boost each other up, even when we might not have anyone IRL to do that for us, you can count on the guys here.

Traveling away from home is hard for alot of guys,  you're only 15 days into it! I'd say you're doing awesome so far for getting on here  sharing your thoughts!

So yes, get on  post roll in the am for sure. No one would know indeed, but like Bean said, as a man of honor you've been able to keep your promise. Which is pretty dang badass I'd say! Proud to be quit with you today.

Imaskoalman,
Please do not be true to your name. You are not a skoal man. You are a better human being than you feel like now. You are the best person you have ever known.
I feel like shit for the better half of my day. Not the kind of "i hate the world, the man sucks!" Kind of shit. I mean the shit that makes you feel lonely, empty, and unable to tell anyone. The real shitty feeling of having no one. And sunflowers seeds are supposed to make that better? Fuck that.
You are a good person. You are a strong person. Wake up and post roll with me in the morning to help me know that i am too.
Thanks,
-grizzfall.

Apologizing for venting? Why the eff would you do that? That's what we're here for, brother. I'm just pumped you remembered to come hereBEFORE you caved. Usually, some pussy caves, then comes here the next day all contrite saying that he/she was weak, made a mistake, blah, blah, won't happen again, blah , blah.

You're not caving now because you posted roll today, gave your fucking word to me and everyone else on here, that no matter what the fuck happens today, you will not put nicotine in your body. And you're a man of honor who can be taken at your word. Somebody has to hold the line, and you're the man who's said enough's enough. We're counting on your leadership here!!!

We're depending on you to keep your word, got dammit! I'm serious. The stakes are life or death here.

PS - I suggest you post roll first thing in the morning to that off the table first thing. We're counting on you to show us what determination and resolve look like...

Thanks for the support. I made it through day one. Had a couple of challenging moments, and would have caved if I was still "trying" to quit. This morning, I gave my word that I would not take a dip today, so in my mind the option to dip was completely removed. I'm not sure why, but it really made a difference knowing that taking a dip was not even an option. I still had some very strong cravings, but for me, roll call makes all the difference. If I say I won't dip today, there is no way I will do it. Period.

I'll be posting roll in the morning.
Welcome John. I agree, posting roll is of huge importance because it gives you a solid quit promise to work at keeping for the day. Giving your word completely removes the option of caving for today.

Sounds like we have someone here with one purpose. QUITTING!! This way of thinking will keep you quit my friend. You have no other option one day at a time. Post roll and keep your word. Removing try, hope and maybe is the key to success. There is only one QUIT!!!!

Great job friend. Keep putting those +1's. You got this. I'll be glad to quit with you any day that ends in a y. You need another number let me know.
A fellow january 14 member with you here. Great post that gets me fired up to be quitting with someone like you. Keep that promise to yourself everyday and I'll keep mine with you.

Quit like hell and reach out to me if you need any support.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

Welcome John! I also dipped for about 30 years, and have been quit since last january.  I can tell you its a bitch early on, but it does get alot better.  Look around at this site, and see that it is possible.  Like Bean said, you have to decide you are quit. In other words, commit to it!  Dont try.  "Try" means you're leaving the door open to run back to the can if it gets tough.  I guarantee its gonna be tough at times.  Dont leave that door open.  Throw all your cans away and dont look back!

I quit with you today.  One day at a time, bro.  Post roll in the January 2014 group, then do whatever you have to do to stay quit today. Then repeat that tomorrow.
Also - read all the info you can on this website, and learn what to expect in the next few days, and you'll find lots of motivational marerial as well, such as the Tom and Jenny Kern story (make sure to read that), and the cancer photos.
Great advice from serious quitters that know how to quit. Throw hope, try and maybe in the toilet with the last of the poison. Post roll and don't use for the day. 1000's have done it and so can you.

You are in for one nasty fight but you have the tools here to make it.

Read everything on here, post roll call each morning and don't dip. Wow....that sounds so easy, doesn't it?

Go load yourself up with gum, mints, fake chew, seeds and beef jerky. Also get some member phone numbers right now, they will help you through the rough parts.

Next, exercise to exhaustion every single day and drink so much water that you feel like you may bust. Both of these will help. I am a cycling freak so during the first several weeks I lived on my bike and stayed overtrained. Surprisingly, you feel about the same when you are overtrained as you do during the fog so somehow, it made it better.

make sure your wife reads about what you are going through. 99% chance that you are going to be a short fussed dick for the next 3-4 weeks. Try not to take it out on her and the kids. Get on here and take it out on us, we will be fine.

I quit with you.
Oh little worm-dirt...you are so scary...F' OFF...!!!

I'm not a veteran quitter, so I will let a veteran member tell you what to do with "planning" and "try"....(I don't want to steal their thunder lol)

As far as being pissed off...not anymore. No excuse. If you give your word, you stick to it no matter what for that day. One day at a time. This past Saturday I was 18 days into my quit and went into a full nicotine rage, arguing with my gf, got pissed and left the house extending a particular and prominent finger from one hand...however, I did not dip. I did not cave. I reached out to my brothers before I got to the point of considering a dip. Your quit brothers and sisters here are your lifeline. Stay in touch with them frequently--even when things are going well. Others on here do the same. We cannot run back to the can/nic-bitch just because we get pissed. That is addict-type thinking. If being pissed justified running back to the can/nic-bitch, then no one one here would be quit. Some have quit and remained quit through divorce, death of family members, cancer, other illnesses, loss of job, etc. Nicotine + 1 problem = 2 problems.

Do a lot of reading on here and engage veteran and new members alike. (My lifeline that I talked to on Saturday is one of my group quit brothers, not a veteran member--help comes with reaching out, not just by how many numbers someone has by his/her name) Welcome! I'm sending you a PM with my cell number...feel free to use it.
