Jobsen, I dipped for 40 years. Be proud you are stopping at 20.

Welcome to the group. Here are some words of wisdom I like to share:

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

The next important thing is learning to distract your attention when you think about dipping. Switch your attention and think about anything else that you like. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially on your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.

I quit with you today.

I dipped for 20 years too, and I found this place a few days after I had decided I was done with the poison. Read everything here and follow the plan. The plan works if you work the plan. Ripping free from the poison is hell, but it gets waaayyyyy better. Fight for your life, it's worth it.

I have dipped for 20 years, mostly Skoal Long Cut Classic Straight (must have said that phrase a million times). I have a tried to quit once before...planed my date, bought nicotine gum and it lasted all of 1 week. This is different. I woke up on 05/10/2018 from a horrible dream that had me (and my mouth) in horrible health. That is not me!!! I have not dipped since then.

I was searching for alternate dips when I came across this site. This site struck a cord with me like no others. Other sites were all about plans and steps. That is not where I am right now! Dip is a horrible poison and I don't want steps and plans. Dip kept me from kissing my wife whenever I wanted to...it kept me hidden from my son when I didn't want him to see me dip...it kept me from being fully engaged at work...it embarrassed me when I was in bars with friends using dip. NO MORE...RIGHT NOW!

Yes, it has been very difficult. I was using nicotine gum until I read on this site that it just a substitute, so my last day using it was two days ago. Last night I hardly slept. I have been using Baccoff Rug Cut Wintergreen and exercising everyday to help with cravings. So far so good. But the most important thing has been my mindset. Dip will never keep me or take me away form the things and people in my life I love.

Thank you for this site!
