Congrats on making it 118 days, awesome work! Amazing the money you don't spend. Like the screen name, what year is the calypso notch? I have an 89 vert I bought before I quit. With the money spent over the years there could be a new car in the garage to go along with it, but now with quitting, that money saved would go a long ways to a payment. Amazing what better things there is to do with that money for sure.

First off let me say THANK YOU for this website! I have never posted or even signed up, but I read. Every time I would get craving I would pull this forum up on my phone and read. I am 118 days tobacco free and this site helped me quit without a doubt. I have tried to quit before a few times and only made it a day or 2 before saying screw it. I had no real motivation. This time. I did it and it was NOT planned. I was riding motorcycles with a few friends when one guy wanted to stop into the Honda dealership to look at motorcycles and 4wheelers. So we pulled in, I got off the bike and threw my dip out and we went in. Little while later I was sitting on a brand new 4wheeler just daydreaming I looked at the sticker at what the monthly payment would be and kinda laughed and said to myself "hell if I could just quit dipping I could buy this with the money saved". We walked out, I put a dip in and we got back on the bikes and kept riding. The next day I calculated up how much I spent every year on dip and how much I could save per month. I said to myself "tomorrow I quit. THIS will be my last day dipping" I dipped all I could on that last day so my lip would hurt the next day. At the time I was spending 7 dollars per day on dip (2 cans of grizzly straight), so I made a goal to myself to SAVE 10 dollars per day to pay MYSELF for each day not wasting it on dip. My goal was small. I was going to buy a new gun with the dip money. A cheap gun like a .38 special. After about a week of being tobacco free I decided to wait until I make it to 100 days and spend all my dip money on a really nice gun to make sure this was real and to keep a goal in the picture. The hardest part was the first 10 days. I had the dip dreams, the night sweats but other then that..that was about it. I tried the nicotine gun for the first 2 days when I really needed it but after that I stayed off of it. I dipped for 12 years. I started then I was 15 years old. I really cant believe I have made it this far. on day 100 I went out and used all the dip money I would have spit away and bought a new Smith and Wesson .44 special. I wont use it that much except for maybe trying to take a few deer with it, but it sure is nice to pull out of the gun safe and look at what overcoming my addiction got me. It means much more to me then just going out and buying it without quitting. Kinda like buying your own trophy with your success. Now I will continue to use my dip money on fun stuff as it's just extra income at this point. I've set up a separate bank account and now my dip money gets automatically drafted to that account every time I get paid. The next time I go to Vegas i'll have plenty of dip money to sit down at a table and play with.

Quitting has been the best thing I've ever done. It wasn't easy. There were times I got in fights with my girlfriend where I almost caved in. But after dipping for so long, if you can make it 10 days. You can make it 100.

I really didn't think I could do it and I hope my experience can help someone else.
