Hello, just wanted to introduce myself. Like a lot of folks on this site, I started experimenting with chew in high school. It became more of a "habit" in college as more of a social thing with my football buddies, our team was the Norsemen. After graduation (I am a pharmacist) I continued to chew only during trigger times. Watching the boob tube, hunting, fishing, driving, and basically anything outdoors. Well, I'm a big outdoorsman so basically anytime I wasn't working. Seven years after I graduated, I got married and we had our first son. I said I would quit then. Then we had our second son, said I would quit then too. My wife never complained about it, so there was no backlash there. I had also quit one time for a year, and was fishing with a dentist buddy who told me I would probably never get cancer from snuff. This was the worst thing that anybody could have ever told me. That basically opened up the floodgates again. Now my boys are 9 and 11, and have expressed their desire for me to quit for a couple of years. Like an asshole, I continued, but tried to hide it from them. Now, at 42 I have finally said enough is enough. I quit 12 days ago and thanks to this site, things are actually going pretty good. I never had the headaches or insomnia. Matter of fact, I find myself going to sleep earlier because I don't have to stay up and have that last chew. Gotta say, I feel pretty dam good right now. However, this past weekend I was at a buddies hunting shack and had a couple of beers and the craving was unbelievable. I knew I wasn't going to have a chew, but man was it tough. Thankfully my friend is an ex-chewer for about 4 years now, so that helped. Thanks again to all on this site, it has been great for me to read the stories, and see the support. I will continue to visit as often as possible.
