Thanks for the advice and help! I flashed my can and an ready for roll. Not going to lie, I am afraid of what lies ahead. I am glad I found this site for you guys to help me. I know a lot of people that chew but have never met anyone that has quit if you can believe that. Thanks!
You know what lies ahead?

It's gonna suck for awhile.
How long? Well... I wish I could tell you but everyone is different. I was scared too bro. We all were. How can my life function without a dip in when I do "this"? Right?

Well... Le'me tell ya... It'll function just fine. One day you'll realize, hey, this doesn't suck as much. One day at a time... You get better.

I was scared until about Day 5 when I got my first taste of freedom, and I haven't looked back since. There will always be hard days, but the good days are more and more frequent, quitting is the smartest thing I have done in years.
Quitting is, on the one hand, very hard, but on the other hand it's not as hard as you think. Fighting off a crave is something everyone can do, I'm sure you've done it on a flight, or on a day when you've been unable to get to a gas station. But doing it repetitively day after day is a different story. That's why we break it down to one day at a time. Post roll first thing in the morning, then do whatever you can to get to bed without dipping. Wake up the next day and repeat. What all of us have found is it really is a mental game you play with yourself. Somehow you have to tune out the part of you that is, and will always be, an addict. But this site is made up of all kinds of men and women from around the country, with different backgrounds, so no doubt you can do this too. It all starts by posting roll. Good luck.

Welcome aboard Wooly. It is admirable that you want to quit for your family. I have a 7 year old daughter who thinks she's 27 and a 5 year old boy who looks at me like I'm Iron Man, Spiderman, and all the Ninja Turtles rolled into one. My wife is still hot and after 10 years of marriage there is still some gas left in the tank. But I can only quit for me. I have to want to do it for me. That's the mindset you have to have. Your family, your public perception, all that is a byproduct of your willingness to own your addiction. They will be better for it because you will be better for them. There is only one day left to get into Oct. HOF group. Come join us...

Woolymal,
Welcome to KTC, I was a 24 year dipper myself and a father of three wonderful kids; just remember to quit for you and you alone, let everyone else enjoy the new you though. You will find that there is lots of useful information here to help you break the chains of addiction, but you need to want to do this all for yourself. I thought I would offer you some direct links to items to help speed and ease your searches.

Welcome to KTC, you appear to have your mind made up to quit for you. If I may add a couple of things that in my opinion can make or break your quit (all items below with underlined words are links to different areas on KTC or referenced, all safe)

1. Your girlfriend/spouse/sig. other, well their support is critical and she deserves to understand more what you are going through, so see the following link and hell print it or e-mail it to her to read Spousal Support

2. Read this for yourself to make sure you fully know what to expect What to expect when you quit; some days are better then others, then eventually all days are better

3. Read the stories on here at KTC, the Kern story is a tear jerker and though you want to be around for your kids this will reinforce it dramatically, Kern's Story; then there are these words spoken by a man who lost his brother to this stupid shit Sean Marsee, damn I wish he would have talked at my middle school.

4. Find an alternative and keep it on you at all times. There will be times when going to the Convenience Store and getting a soda or anything else can cause one lapse in judgment and lead to a huge mistake. Don't be that guy, be the guy with Testicular Fortitude.

5. Find a couple of other quitters and exchange numbers with them, if you need another please PM me and let's do this.

6. Remember that you are an addict, 100 days is a milestone not a goal; the goal is a lifetime being free from the nic bitch. Get pissed off at big tobacco and the dangers they put you in.

7. Remember that you are the one who caused you to be an addict, so don't let anger get outside of your control. It is no one else's fault that you got here. Your family will only support you if you are not an asshole.

8. Drink lots of water, may also consider changing your eating lifestyle/diet, shit changes after the weed is out of your system. Exercise is also a huge help.

Now, learn How to post roll, then go post roll with your fellow Titans - Pre HOF October 2014

If there is anything I can do to assist you further, please feel free to send me a PM and let me help you.

Damn! Pinched laid it all out for you. Read, read, read, and read some more. All the knowledge you need is here. I was a 2 can a day junkie myself, but I had finally had enough and jumped right into the KTC style quit. It works.

Just curious why your quit date says November 2nd?

just found this site, trying to quit
« on: July 23, 2014, 10:49:00 AM »
I have been dipping for 23 years and want to quit for my children and my perception in public. I have tried cold turkey in the past but have never been able to make it. Over the past 5 weeks I have cut down from 2 cans of Cope original a day to 5 cans a week. I am now ready for the next step! I am a football coach, golfer and a drinker and have a fear of doing these functions without dipping. I look forward to being active in this community and joining a HOF class soon!
Thanks.
