Hey all, this site has been a big help for me the past few weeks. I quit in the middle of June after being a can-a-day dipper for about 14 years.
About two weeks into my quit I started noticing a brownish plaque form on the bottom of my teeth where they connect to my gums, in addition to intense sensitivity on my teeth, particularly near the plaque.
Neither the brownish stain nor the sensitivity were an issue until about two weeks after I quit. I had read it’s best to wait about 30 days before visiting a dentist, though I’ve been putting it off hoping my teeth would become a little less sensitive before my visit. I’m afraid if I go now I’ll have to be put under in order to handle the pain of a cleaning.
Anybody else experience anything similar or have any advice? It’s not that I’m afraid to face the music at the dentist (after all, I quit — how hard can they get on me?) I’m just worried about how sensitive my teeth have been.
Thank you all for your help making this process a little easier
