* Cereal's HOF Speech
« on: July 25, 2018, 04:49:00 PM »
Hello everyone, I am Cereal (Chase) and I am currently 102 days quit. At the beginning of my quit I couldn't have imagined reaching 100 days, I had failed a few times before and that really weighed heavily on my mind. I didn't quit with a pre-planned quit date or anything. How I decided to quit was by running out of snuff one Sunday morning and I didn't have enough cash on me to buy a can, so I decided that I would try and see if I could go even one day without snuff. Well it sucked but I was able to, I saw that the nicotine withdrawls weren't going to kill me so I used that as motivation to quit again. 14 days later I realized that I needed help from someone who understands what I am going through, this thought lead me to making a desperate Google search for help and that lead me to Kill The Can.

I have had 102 days to think about my quit and a big thing that I thought about was why I had failed to break free from this addiction in the past. I think it was the combination of two things, trying to quit on my own and thinking too long term. Now I'm going to tell you that it is possible for some people to quit nicotine on their own, I have known them personally. They were able to do it but I am not one of those people. I don't know if I'll need this site forever but as of right now I do. That's where KTC's method works for me, this site isn't built around long term promises. It is built around a simple 24-hour promise. What kind of man would I be if I couldn't keep my word for even 24-hours? That is the mindset that I needed to adopt to stay quit. I'm not quitting for 100, 200, 300, 1000, etc. days, I am quitting for one day, all I have to do is not put nicotine in my body for one day. That's a lot more managable than quitting forever isn't it?

So, to any new quitters or people who are thinking about quitting, If you want my 2 cents: Do it. Every day you continue to put that garbage in your body leads you deeper into addiction. As we all know all too well, days turn into years. One more day with snuff leads to one more week with snuff and eventually forever. We can take this rule and turn it on its head. One more minute without snuff, one more hour, one more day, one more... Do you see a theme here? It is called momentum, each day without nicotine in your body gives you more strength and confidence in your quit. You don't have to quit forever, you just have to quit today. Thats what KTC is built around.
