I thank you all for your support. I am excited but very scared. What if I fail?
If you fail, you will continue to have an increase risk of getting an ulcer, a continued risk of peripheral artery disease, your circulation will not improve, your blood pressure will remain higher, you will have an increased risk of a stroke, and you risk mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreatic cancer. Source

So there's really nothing at stake. ;)

Let's be serious, there is no reason to consider failure. Considering faliure is simply building a cushion for when you fall. You will not fall. Just don't worry about tomorrow, stay quit today. You can keep that shit out of your piehole for 1 day!

Edromero hit it square between the eyes when he wrote "i have 100% control over whether the failure happens or not". And so do you!
I've always wanted to save a life, so I started with mine.

You have the strength, we all do, to beat this thing. Just engage, and hang on for the ride!

May even have some fun along the way.

i used to be afraid of failure too... when i was trying it myself. i prayed that this time some miraculous thing would happen, but it never did.

until I found this site. it took literally 2-3 minutes or reading and in that moment the fear went away becauae i knew that i knew that i knew that i was done.

i was in good hands.

the fear left because i realized that i have 100% control over whether the failure happens or not.

besides, look at the amount of quitting experience these guys on here have. Cumulatively, they've successfully quit hundreds of times (through other peoples' quits) and they are committed to helping you.

don't worry.

Chewie's right, it's not luck. We make a choice and stick with it. 4 days in and I've driven past the store and didn't buy any. Bought 5 cans of "Hooch" but after 2 days figured keeping something in my lip may just tempt me so I dumped it (http://www.hoochsnuff.com/Main.aspx, in case you need to go this route). It would be damn easy to go get a can with the wife working and me and my 5 year old son at home (love being a teacher with these summers off) but I choose not too. You can choose not to. If you need someone to talk, PM me. I may only be a short timer, but we can work together. Also, get to the October Quit group and post roll if you haven't already!!

you won't... we won't let you.

get involved. get phone numbers. it's damn near impossible to cave when you're on the phone with a quit brother.

tell EVERYONE that you know that you're quitting. make the thought of having another dip so embarrassing that you'll never go back to the can.

recognize that while you may feel helpless against the nic bitch right now you are in fact in complete control -- it's your decision whether you succeed or fail.

recognize that if you don't quit you may get cancer. you may lose EVERYTHING that you hold dear to you - wife, girlfriend, children, parents, family, friends, working, playing, etc. they can all be taken from you in an instant if you fail.

failure is not an option my friend... quitting is.

To be real about it, failure might happen... then again, it might not. You won't know until you quit. That's the real key... you have to DO IT. Worry about the bridges when you come to them.

But first, you have to quit.

You can do this man. I used to feel the same way that you do - that I would never be able to stop - but after finding this site, and with the support of some great people here, I was able to finally give it up. Most importantly, start posting roll! Do it every single day. Posting roll means you are giving us your word that you will not cave. Can you keep your word?

Hi all, I have been dipping for 10 years. Grizzly is my can of choice. I can not count how many times I have tried to quit. There are few times when I lasted one full day without dipping and man it felt so great, then the next day I started dipping again! Damn!

I fucking hate it!

There are many times when dipping made me so sick, I had the urge to vomit and had bad ass heartburn so I spit it out immediately, then the next minute I put in fresh dip in my mouth! What the hell?

I am going to try and start my day 1. I will need a lot of help. I am glad I found this site thru google search.

Thanks!
first off... welcome.

secondly... there is no "try" or "hope" on this site.

we quit. we succeed. remove those words from your vocabulary. you CAN quit. we are living proof. it will NOT be easy, but it is doable.

sounds like you're finally to the point where it's time to do this. but remember, you're not "trying" to quit. you are quitting. it's a HUGE difference.

dump every grain of grizzly that you have in the house, car, office, etc.

get on the boards. post roll. meet people.

the system works -- if you let it.

i refuse to wish you good luck -- luck has nothing to do with being a successful quitter.

see you on roll. congrats on a great decision.
