My bad guys. I jumped the gun here and I'm the one at fault. My apologies to you Jacque!
You are entitled to your opinion. I think paying the price cold turkey without pharma may just be the reminder needed to never take another dip.

But I suppose if some people can't do it the "hard" way, then it's better than still dipping.

Wait a minute...

Chantix doesn't have nicotine in it, so you are good to go there. Chantix is allowed here, eyehatecope.
You've already dumped the nicotine lozenges and such, so you are not using NRT.
You are on the site, and have posted an intro to let us know a little bit about who you are.

Sounds like the only thing you need to do is get on Roll.

Go here for the April 2017 Pre-HOF Quit Group and post up. I fyou need any help, reach out to anyone who has posted support and they will be glad to help.

One thing though....you've never Quit before. You've had stoppages of use. That's all. Let's realize that we don't tolerate stoppages here - we expect you to do this, one day at a time, by posting roll and keeping your word. You can do this.

Quit on...let's get this done.
Honestly chantix was the best thing ever for my quit. I am not sure why so many of the "vets" say bad things about it. If you are currently taking it you know the possible side effects, and they are no joke but if you are a good candidate they help/work.

Day 3 Check-in
« on: January 01, 2017, 12:19:00 PM »
Used 1 can / day of Skoal Long Cut Straight, top lip. This is my third time quitting. Only made it 6 weeks on the previous attempts. The oral fixation got me.

This time trying Chantix and booze free (quit drinking 1 year ago). Stopped the dip on day 8 of Chantix then 4mg nic lozenges for 2 days. Wanted to get the full RX dosage in me. Today is day 3 with no nicotine.

The Chantix keeps you sane. No jonesing for a dip and lowered irritability. May have limited the fogginess too. Purposely timed this so the first few days would be during a break from work (limit brain function). No big issues yet with the mind fog. The mind fog crushed me the last few times i quit. Expecting it this week however.

Came into this quit in good shape. Day 1 with no nicotine had a sweaty power lifting session followed by short hot tub. Day 2 light workout followed by a short steam room session (some breathing thru nose). Almost every day for the last 3 weeks have increased fiber intake and drank fresh prepared veggie juice on an empty stomach in a.m. The juice varies but regularly contains: red beets, ginger, carrot, celery and apple. Goal is flush the nicotine from my system as soon as possible. They say it takes 3 days.

The biggest issue for me is the oral fixation. I used to have a dip in all the time unless i was eating, in bed, or working out. This oral fixation is driving me nuts. Worse than last time. Chewing so much gum my jaw is sore. Rotating today with gum and a toothpick.

I know the oral fixation will go away and all the habitual times i took a dip cues will subside. Not going to cave this time and will take the Chantix for 90 days.

Any suggestions for the oral fixation? I tried Smokey Mountain last time and don't want to use it again.
