Welcome and congratulations on your decision. Having retired from the Army in 2006 and from having spent my fair share of time around lots of dipping soldiers and in and around TOCs that were nothing but a big spit can I can relate to your story.

My friendÂ…I have no advice for you that isnÂ’t any better than what you have given yourself. You know want you want and you know how to get it. I will PM you my number and you can call from anywhere in the world if you want collect if you need my help but ultimatelyÂ…itÂ’s your decision. I am not going to lie to you and tell you that the first few days werenÂ’t hard but I do know that it gets easier. One day at a time brotherÂ…thatÂ’s all these guys ask of you and if thatÂ’s not easy enough go to one hour or one minute. Stick with itÂ…

Post Roll and give you word. If you need help give me a call or reach out to anyone of these awesome dudes and dudettes around here who know how to deal with it. In the last 5 days that I have been hanging around here I have seen some awesome shit.

First off, thank you for your service 007! Congrats on the decsion to quit. It is not an easy battle, but it can be done. Use this place and all of the resources and I believe you will find success here. The philosophy is simple..... give your word daily and honor it. Our word is all that we have and it is our bond. There have been times in my quit that I was ready to throw in the towel but didn't simply because I promised some quitters that I wouldn't. Hang in there, read up, and let me know if you need anything. I am always here for a brother in need.

Great decision! You've taken the first step. We'll help with the rest. Posting roll is your daily promise to go nic free. Post roll everyday, keep your word, read everything you can on this site, and live nic free...one day at a time.

There are no tricks, no shortcuts. It's going to suck at first, but you can do it. Don't think about tomorrow, next week, or forever...we'll worry about those when they get here. Just focus on what you can control...right now. Post roll each day, keep your word each day, and live nic free. Congrats!

Welcome aboard, jw.....good to have you here.

Below is a tutorial on posting roll, which is one of the most (if not the most) important aspects of us quitting and staying that way!

Post up in the May 2011 pre-HOF group, today, then wake up early and repeat again the next day, it's that simple.

This is my quit. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My quit is my best friend. It is my life. My quit, without me, is useless. Without my quit, I am useless.......

Day 0....just flushed my cans!
« on: January 27, 2011, 11:57:00 PM »
Well KTC community, I have decided to quit! I AM DONE...fed up with this nasty habit that has slowly consumed my life. My story: Been in the Army for 7 years, and never touched chew until I came in. I started "socially" dipping when we were training and in the field, as many Soldiers do. Eventually I was buying my own cans, maybe monthly, then weekly...and for the past 2 1/2 years I've been dipping about 2-3 cans a week. Now the fear factor has kicked in....I don't want to die, I don't want to be dependant on a nasty substance, and I sure as hell don't want my face removed because of my stupidity. I've been deployed and have been harms way many times and made it through fine, but I'm not going to die from something packed in a tin can! I just flushed my cans (all of them!). I work with tons of people who chew and this will be hard, but I know I can do it. I need this community's help. Looking forward to starting here. Tonight is Day 0, tomorrow is D+1. Any feedback and support is appreciated! Thanks
