Adam my friend, fatigue, loss of sleep, headaches, anger, constipation among other things is part of healing. One thing Rage is almost a given. Come on here ,bitch, scream, cuss us whatever, we've been there we can take it, just be careful and walk away when it starts, you damn sure don't want to take it out on your family. Mine never stuffed the poison in my mouth and I'm pretty sure yours didn't. You got yourself in this but you don't have to go alone at quitting as long as you post Roll we will be right here with you! Damn proud of you! Quit on my friend!
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

If you need the fake stuff use it. I did and still keep a can handy still. I dipped a lot of it in the beginning tapered down as time went by. Kingsomething pun intended, has said it best so far so listen to him. If i can be of assistance let me know. Quit on.

I just posted roll. Thanks for your informative response. I'm looking forward to this journey. It's definitely a test of mental toughness.
You're right about that. The best part about KTC is that you don't have to go through it alone. We've all been on day 4 and can relate to everything you are going through. Use the resources here, most especially your fellow quitters. The support is amazing.

Also, if you can't seem to concentrate on work or fall asleep later, read everything you can on here. I spent most of the first two weeks of my quit reading everything I could lay my eyes on. The HOF speeches are very helpful, and the Words of Wisdom are also a great place to get some inspiration and advice.

You can do this. ODAAT is the key. It will be difficult at times, but don't look any further ahead then when you go to bed tonight. Just win that battle. Break it down to hours if you have to, but resist the temptation to look forward. At day 130, forever is still far too intimidating for me to tackle. I'll stick with winning today because I know I can win that one. I've done it for 129 days in a row, what's 1 more?

Welcome Adam!

First things first. I suggest you head over to Feb 2016 and post roll with those guys. Posting roll is your promise not to use nicotine in any shape, manner or form today. Once you make your promise, keep your promise. If you can do these simple steps for 24 hours at a time, you can't fail.

Which brings me to the next point. We don't do forever here. I'm glad you're fired up and that you're telling yourself that you never want to go back to it. BUT, you can only control one day at a time (ODAAT). You can't do anything about what happened yesterday, and you can't change tomorrow before it gets here. It's a carpe diem kind of thing. Seize today.

The fog. You're "nic raging" right now when you fly off the handle for no reason. Don't do that to your family. Come here and rage all you want to. We can take it. Your family didn't do this to you, and they shouldn't have to suffer the consequences either. The nic rage will pass. The fog comes and goes as well. None of this will kill you, and none of it is worse than fighting for your life after cancer or a heart attack.

Finally, the fake. I didn't use it for precisely the reason you have given. However, I would say 75% or so of the quitters on here use it, especially in the beginning. I chewed enough seeds, gum, and jolly ranchers in the first couple weeks to feed a small country. To each their own in this regard. If you think it will be too much like the real thing don't use it. If you feel like it'll take the edge off a wicked crave to be able to pop something similar in, then use it. It's a personal preference.

Again, welcome. Get over and post roll and introduce yourself to your February brethren. They will welcome you with open arms and you will begin to experience why this site works: Accountability + Brotherhood = Success

First and Last Quit...Day 4
« on: November 16, 2015, 03:00:00 PM »
Hi everyone. My name is Adam and I officially quit last Thursday night. I've been dipping for 17 years and everything came into perspective when I saw my 1 year old child walking around the house with my dip bottle. I chose to quit right then and there. The past 4 days have not been easy...some worse than others. I know it's still early, but I guarantee I'll never have a chew again. This site has already been extremely helpful, and I'm grateful for everyone's contributions.

On another note, I haven't really felt the "fog" yet. At least, I don't think I have. I've just been extremely moody and get pissed off at the smallest of things. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night for about 2 hours. Just sitting there. It was very weird. Other than that, just trying to take this one day at a time.

Lastly, I'm cautious to use these "fake" dips. I feel like that just might tempt me into getting the real thing. Any validity to this?
