You posting in a quit group man? Not sure if October 16 is still open for business or not. I'm taking a wild guess you would fall under October. November should be starting REAL soon.

Either way, a quit group can and will really help. It builds a network of support for you even when you are not on site. You exchange numbers with other quitters going through exactly what you are going through. They are your lifeline in a pinch. I know, exchanging digits with perfect strangers is madness! But caving and catching cancer and dieing is even more madness for your loved ones that have to deal with their loss.

When the cravings hit, pound the holy hell out of some water. Eat some sun flower or pumpkin seeds. Use smokey mountain or hooch. What ever you need to to stay quit. There is NEVER an excuse to cave. Im sure you know, but here is a reminder. A cave is ANY nic use at all. Stogies are the hang up for some. Oh I didn't know I couldn't have a cigar. DUHH! Not inhaling is NOT an excuse. No patches, lozenges or anything.

Exercise like hell, well as much as you can. Walk, run, jog, do what you need to to take your mind off of it. IF you have some support going, stare it right in the face and say fuck you nic!

But man, the most important thing you have to do, and I am NOT saying forever, I am only saying for today, is post roll. Post your promise to not use nicotine today. Just for today. We can worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Alll we ask is for today. It helps keep you accountable. When you are not on roll, your quit brother will, or should come looking. And you will do the same for them. It all boils down to accountability. What if you never had to account for ANYTHING in your life, how would your life be today? Hmmmmm. So yeah, posting roll is VERY important. I know some of it all sounds silly at first, but it works.

So if you have not, jump on in and give it a shot man. What have you got to loose? You just might gain some freedom and less stress and anxiety in your life. The nicotine is hurting you even if you don't know it. Raises stress and anxiety, blood pressure, makes it harder to heal up cuts scrapes and surgery, etc etc.

Anyhow, got to run for now man. Need further support? Jump on in, Uhhhhh oops I fgorgot you said you quit 7 months ago, group.

take care.
If I could I would. If I don't, it's because I am lazy.

Hey yall, I'm happy to be apart of the group. I still have a hard time some days, it's hard to quit something you have done for so long. If any of yall need help, encouragement or just have questions let me know. I will be more than happy to aid in the success of others.

I'm new to the site. I actually quit dipping back in December after 18 years. I started dipping after I joined the Army, thinking it made me one of the cool kids and it made running easier. I dipped a can of Copenhagen long cut every other day. I tried quitting many times and always crawled back to the can after a few weeks or so. I realized it was time to quit once my son started to act like he was dipping. I don't want my son or any ones child getting caught in this trap.

I have now been tobacco and nicotine free for almost 7 months. my body still doesn't feel right, I get random jaw pains, sore throats and stomach pains. From what I have read on this site, it is all part of the gauntlet and a small price to pay for quitting.

I wish yall good luck in quitting. Stay strong and you can beat it!
Congrats dude! I love seeing guys post intros in here that have done it on their own. Hopefully I can get this posted before they lock your thread. From what I've seen, they don't like quitters who do it on their own hanging around here.
You couldn't be more wrong if you wanted to be. I just guided a guy over to a quit group yesterday that had 264 days in on his own.

I think it's pretty freakin awesome he can quit on his own to be quite honest. I am one of the ones who could not. And no, I'm more than sure his post is not going to be locked until he starts posting affiliate links to other sites where he makes money per click or just posting some dumb ass spam.

Where you may possibly have some insight is the support factor. If he can do it on his own, great! If he comes in here needing support, sure, the guys will ask him why he is not on roll. That IS the price of admission to use our site. Don't like the terms or the rules? Split! No one is stopping you. Hell I left for a year and came crawling back asking for help. I hated this place and the stupid rules, but in the end what worked worked.

Way to go Shaun! I think that's pretty awesome man that you have quit on your own. If you ever need anything man, please feel free to swing by and give me a shout.

take care!
I wasn't trying to say other quitters wouldn't appreciate his quit; I was referring to the mods and admins. Backer Worm posted an intro with over 1000 days quit and it was locked minutes later. That was his one and only post; no spam, no b.s. So, maybe someone can explain that one? It just felt like the powers that be didn't like a solo quitter posting on their site? Maybe I'm wrong?
I just assumed that my response to Backer Worm was so eloquent and insightful that the Mods decided that nothing else need be said. 'winker'

And Welcome Shaun! Way to be a badass quitting on your own for so long. Our groups are never closed here, so if you want to start tapping in to the support network, we'd love to have you.

I really should let the admins or a mod comment on this one, but here goes. There is always a good reason for something like getting locked out of a thread here. No one is ever against a quitter though. Of all the days I have spent here I never heard anyone slam a quitter. I am in awe of anybody who makes the decision to quit using nicotine. It would also make my day if I weren't here right now and this was only a dream, but everyone here knows that being an addict it is more of a nightmare. When we came here there was a big reason. We were all searching for the same thing. Being quit. Now I happen to agree with the philosophy that you need accountability to stay quit. There was no way I could have made it through today without it. Posting my word everyday. Keeping in touch with a few guys here. The basic things to stay quit. I don't need someone to come in here and tell me good luck or tell me how I am quitting wrong, or I could have done it on my own. Those folks that do that fall by the wayside. It really is a screw you though to wish us good luck. That is why I mostly ignore these posts and quit on. I hope ShaunD comes back and sticks around. That will be his best decision yet... Are you really gong to trust someone who just blows by and drops a post like this or are you going to trust your brothers and sisters all over this site who have stuck it out and have helped everybody else stay quit... I choose the later, That's just how I roll... or rather post roll...
