Came here today looking to quit and seems like I just made the cut for this class. Been about a decade and I need my life back. Emptied car and house of spitters and empty cans. Any other suggestions.

Cheers
First day is tough and even tougher if you are still in given that 40% of the Corps dips. It gets better and I can tell you at day 18 I am in a remarkably better place than I was two weeks ago. This support network is great and I look forward to posting roll each day. Good to be quit with you and good to be in the same quit class. S/F, kcstert.

Click on the "Welcome Center" link at the top left of the screen. Read everything you can. Posting roll was the key for me. I thought it was stupid at first, didn't think I needed to do it because I fooled myself into thinking that I was still in control....could quit any time, etc, etc...

Well, after failing after a day or two tons of times, I am finally quit...530 days. The ONLY thing I did differently this time is posting roll. Accountability, mutual support (mutual suffering?), and the folks on this site have gotten me to this point. Here is your link to freedom...

Hell yea man we got this shit! Something I did that I really think will help me along the way and could potentially help others is writing down your thoughts, reasons, etc in a notebook, computer doc, napkin, whatever.

Day 1 I opened up a work document and just typed and typed everything that came to my head, listed the reasons I am quitting and how they are affecting me, I wrote the benefits of quitting, I yelled at myself, copied links of various cancer stories and pictures that really had an impact on me. Got EVERYTHING about the quit out of my head and typed, now I can use this document to my advantage. If there ever is a time I am feeling weak, or not feeling as passionate about my quit, I can open up the word document and see how much pain the fuckin dip had me in and really remember that I can NEVER go back.

Thought I might as well share this idea with everyone and hopefully it can help at least one other person.
