I made it through the first three days....granted im taking chantix, it makes it ten times easier, but I feel alot better. I wear my Kill the can wrist band and every time I see it it reminds me of my determination to quit. I love this site take care. I'm on my way!!!
Almost sac-religious that you wear a KTC band and are taking chantix. You are quit but not solely by the power of your mind and the honor of your word. Work to get to that point.
Honor of my word and power of my mind? I really dont care about the how its done to stay quit. If you are using your words and power of mind great for you. It would have eventually killed me bottom line. I had several strokes and couldnt quit on my own. Day 8 NO dip. will start posting in honor role. Thank you everyone else for the kind words and support. - Epic

Brotha, there are no style points or degree of difficulty points in your quit. This is all or nothing, 100% or zero. Quit or use. Wake up, post roll, Quit! Makes no difference how you stay quit today, just make today.

Don't worry about the Chantix. Listen to your Doc and get off of it as planned. Anything to stay nic free. Three days is great! Congrats!

How about you start with quitting reading all the BS about quitting and just do it. What makes you think you'll be man enough on 09/15 that you're not man enough to do today? Are you going to be that much stronger of a person 4 days from now? I highly doubt it. When, notice no variables here, you make it past day 3 look me up, until then, you have proven nothing to anyone.

Totally agree with what others have said. I suspect that you got "set a date" tip from someone or some other website. You WON'T get that here.

I set quit dates for 15-plus years. I was always ABOUT TO do it. I said I would quit upon college graduation, then my birthday, then July 4th, then Labor Day, then Christmas, marriage, birth of a kid...then another. I must have set 5 or 6 "very serious" quit dates each year for over 15 years. In fact, here's how my poisoned mind workd...I actually told myself, "it's okay to dip today because, I'm quitting on _______ day, anyway." Sound familiar?

Read the Tom and Jenny Kern story (click on killthecan.org...bottom right). Someone tried to console her by asking, "what are the odds..." She replied something like, "the odds don't matter when you're the one that gets it."

Look James, I am pumped you're here. I really am. But there are no short-cuts. Nobody can do this for you. It doesn't get easier on the 15th. The Nic Bitch is in your poisoned mind, controlling how you think. Other websites and self-help books with compelling titles like "10 steps to Quitting" are bullshit. YOU KNOW what you need to do. Flush that shit today, embrace whatever the fuck comes next and enjoy your new freedom.

All you have to do is take the first step and post roll. We've got your back the rest of the way. Don't wait, just do it. Then click on the Welcome Center link above and start reading. Read everything you can. YOU CAN DO THIS. Just click on the Quit Groups and look at a few pages...those name are the names of the other bad ass quitters that once were right where you are today...on the edge of greatness. The difference between them and you...you're too scared to jump in right fucking now and start living free. Who knows? It may super easy for you....okay, not likely, but it will feel great to be quit. I can guaran-fucking-tee that. There is no quitter that wishes they had just dipped a few more days before quitting...nobody.

So c'mon, James...BE OUR QUIT BROTHER...YOU CAN DO THIS...DON'T WAIT ANOTHER MINUTE...EMBRACE THE SUCK and LIVE FREE!!!

Could not agree more with WT57 and ZAM. I had 32 years invested in this crap and for about half of them it was going to be my last week or day. I too had dumped full cans only to head off to the store in the morning to load up again. I had no idea what a slave I was to the nic bitch. Do it now! Do it for you, embrace the suck and take it one day at a time. This group is awesome and several times along the way on my journey to 102 days quit they called me out and gave me tough answers to the issues that I was facing. We stand to be quit with you today!

What Zam said! I had nearly 40 years of those "tommorrows". Just today I came across one of those tommorrows. Looking through my planner I found my plan of quitting April 11. Well on April, 1 while reading stories here I flushed my last 3 cans and turned tommorrow into today, that was 162 days ago and turned out to be one of the best days of my life! I challenge you to turn your tommorrow into a today! Join us in quitting today.

Any particular reason why your gonna wait a week to quit? Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked that another addict is questioning the former master. But it seems to me you should be quitting today. Now.

Head over to CHAT, or ask questions here. But tomorrow is the shittiest of all days to quit. Trust me. I lived 27 years of "tomorrow".

PM me if you have any questions. And flush that shit down the toilet. Quitting is a choice. Dipping is a choice. If you take a pinch again today, that will have been a choice. Why would that choice be any easier or better 6 days from now?
*Quit today. Full stop. No qualifiers. Tomorrow?... IDK, IDC.

Hello my name is james I dont even know if im posting this right. MY quite day is saturday september 15th. I am in the army and have been dipping for 3 years now i have tried to quite hundreds of times in the past i have dumped more chewing tobacco down the toilet with the thoughts im never doing that again only to wake up the next morning and make a b line for the nearest convience store to buy more. I dip a can or more a day. I am worried about my heart and my health. I have had several small strokes. I cant say chewing tobacco caused the problems but it certainly did not help the problem. Im looking for all the support I can get I am quiting and I will do whatever itakes to make it happen. Thank you for your support -James
