Today on January 28th 2017 i am quitting. Every time I have quit was because someone told me I needed to. This time it's not for them it's for me. Not much of an accomplishment, but I have made it 12 hours so far and I have a slight headache, but I'm not going to give into it again. Thank you guys for having me
Glad to have you, Mike - and congratulations on your decision. A couple of folks have probably already sent you a private message (look in the upper right hand corner of the forum pages, for a link named "Inbox") with their contact information. They're reaching out to you to say hi, and to give you someone you can text/call when you need to in order to keep your quit going.

Again - congratulations on a big first step. Take it one day at a time.

Great decision, Mike! We all know what you are going through right now, but it is all so worth it, every bit of pain. I took a notebook and for the first few days I actually broke down the days by hour. While at work I would cross off each hour as it passed. After a few days I would forget to cross off hours and would look down at my notebook and realize I'd gone three or four hours without thinking about a dip. I then transitioned to simply crossing off days in my notebook. It will continue to get easier, I promise. Just put your head down for the first few days/weeks, grit your teeth and take it one day at a time. Post roll early and use all the resources on this site. Stay strong brother! Proud to be quit with you.

Welcome to the asylum Mike......listen to the advice given already. Make sure you post roll everyday, it is what will keep you quit. The trail has been blazed already here at KTC and its easy to see it, but difficult to stay on. KTC will help you with that, if you let it. Push through the fog and the suck for the next few days and you will have accomplished the first step of this process. Then it is the mental side of beating your addiction and KTC helps with that too. If you would have asked me what is now over 3 years ago I could kick this 20+ year addiction I would not have thought it possible, but this place has made it a reality! I have a good friend who has stopped dipping 3-4 times the past 3+ years and he has not made it more then 3-4 months on each stoppage. I tell him about this place but he has yet to get on the train and failure repeats itself. I hope like hell some day he decides to get on board so he can be a successful quitter too......
