So my dipping habit began when I reconnected and became re-involved with my now Husband who introduced me to Kodiac. I tried it and then continued using it for 4 years, never more than 4 times a day and sometimes only once but the craving is almost always there to have that little pouch between my lip and gums. I have tried quitting on a few occasions but it is difficult when the person you spend the most time with, is also an non quitting addict. I am tired of the receding gum lines, new wrinkles and butt breath. I think about all the face products I use and vitamins I take and feel like an idiot when I read about what chew is doing to my body...I spend so much time exercising and eating right and then negate it all by putting in a chew. I hope to find the support I need from other quitters as there will be none from home. Already from what I've read I am encouraged. Thank you for giving me a place to vent and whine.
Littledip - first, congratulations on wanting to quit, and for having the guts to reach out. That's not an easy thing.
I don't know how much you've read about KTC, so just in case, here's a link to something that explains how things work here:
Here's How You Quit... Ball Is In Your Court NowYour next step is to get yourself on roll. Posting roll means giving a bunch of us anonymous yahoos on the internet your promise that you won't use nicotine today. It's what we do here, and we do it because it works. You make that promise... then keep it. Then you wake up the next day, and make that promise again. Because quitting forever is hard and scary, but quitting for a day? Heck, if I can do that, anyone can!
Here's a video about
Posting Roll on KTC. If you post roll - and I really, really urge you to do so - you'll do it in the
August group.
The first three days are going to be really rough. Drink lots of water. If you're walking by a bathroom and not feeling the need to duck in, drink more :) That, and exercise (if you can), will help flush the nicotine out of your system. A couple of links to help you understand what your body's going to be going through while you're quitting:
What To Expect When You Quit DippingSymptoms of Quitting Dip and ChewA lot of information, I know. That's just scratching the surface of what's available here, too. There are hundreds of other quitters who are here to talk with you, answer questions, and help you as best we can. We've all quit one day at a time, and we've all been where you are, and more than anything, we'd like to help you quit.
