Hey all at killthecan :) you all seem like great people. and will become great friends :)

My name is Cory. And my brother has chewed in front of me for 4 years, and my girlfriends dad has for a while. I am bipolar and have severe anxiety, mild ocd, and finally gave into chew. It was my desicion. No pressure. Not for fun either. Just for me to have someway to cope. So having these mental problems really got me onto this quickly.

All it has done is made me feel worse.when i do it and did it it made me feel better though, but didn't realize what it was really doing. But I didn't realize this until I quit 4 days ago. I've tried quitting so many times, but each time i try hard, and it gets easier and better.

I have only done it for 4 months however. But was instantly psycologically addicted because the way my mind works. Started out slow. Disliking it. but then made myself learn to like it. and then started using a tin a day, until 4 days ago. I would always get mouth sores, and it just wasn't good. It's not worth it for me and the wife and children I will have.

However, I started chewing nicotine gum. 4mg to help me cope now. Not a good idea, because i think i will soon be addicted to that :)

But just wanted to say hey. and thanks for being the supportive and wonderful people that u all are. Hugs for all here! :) Cory

Take the NRT's and throw them in the garbage, as you still have nic in your bloodstream and go through withdrawls every day till you stop those too. Now grab your ass with both hands, hold on and repeat after me:

I refuse to be a statistic anymore. Once I realized the only way to quit and stay quit is if I accept the responsibility of controlling my own actions. A little can no longer controls my actions, thoughts, emotions, MY DESTINY. I DO! There is no going back from here or I am that statistic I refuse to be.

Hey Cory!

Way to go on your decision to quit stuffin' your face with what-ever they put in that little can and call tobacco.

QSX extreme is a great resource for all of us who are committed to taking the nicotine monster head on. It will get a little rough at first but there are a lot of great folks here to support you on your way.

Advice: - Visit the Welcome Center and learn about Roll Call and how to post on it.
That is the place where we all share our ups and downs and maintain accountability
to each-other.

- Also explore posts on substitutions. I do not have any experience with nicotine gum, but it does sound like something-else to get hooked on. Anyway,
whatever works for you.

You are already a better man for deciding to get your life back Cory...Congratulations!

See ya in Roll Call...Jack

You go, man. I'm a psych. patient, too. There is nothing better for my mind than getting and keeping clean. I've had no dip for 3 weeks, and things are looking up.
