Are any of you getting sores in your bottom lip and patches on your cheeks???? They feel like little bumps and i feel like i have a raw area in my cheek. Is this normal??? Im 12 days out.
Yep its normal.. its because the pH of your mouth is changing since you are no longer stuffing your face. Since you have quit you should go get a checkup at the dentist.
Quit with extreme prejudice...
My orders say I'm not supposed to know where I'm taking this quit, so I don't! But one look at you and I know its gonna be hot!

Hi all. I am a 25 yr old 2nd year medical student who has dipped for about 10 years. I chewed 2-3 cans/week. I have quit for a few months here and there throughout my experience, but have always had that ONE that drew me back in. I recently decided enough is enough, and have not had a chew for 9 days. Let me tell you it has been awful. I have never went through anything so terrible in my life. I have had heartburn all day and all night (I have never had heartburn) which is completely taking over my life. I have taken many medications and it is not getting better. I have hardly been eating anything because i have no appetite, and I am lucky if i get more than 4 hours of sleep a night. The worst thing has been the ANXIETY. I feel like a nutcase. I have tests coming up in a couple of days which is not helping one bit. I worry about everything, every disease I learn about I magically have in my head. This is really effecting my sleep. I have been constipated from the little food I have been eating.

Is all of this normal? Could some of you share your own experiences with heartburn, insomnia, ANXIETY, and lack of appetite. I would really like to hear about your specific symptoms and would love any tips you may or may not have. Thanks!

I had all of the above of what you're going thru. I felt at one point that I would be better off dead than going thru that hell. I am on day 70 of my quit and it is a lot better.

For heartburn I took Prilosec OTC for a month and used Tums 1000mg when it would have flare ups. I went to the doc about the anxiety and he put me on Citralopram. That shit made me feel even worse! So got myself off of that and decided to just endure whatever punishment was thrown at me with the anxiety and depression I was going thru. For about the first month I took a sleep aid because I would only get about 3-4 hours of sleep a night without it. I'd often wake up and start trembling with an anxiety attack. Like you I also lost my appetite. I lost roughly 25 pounds in 2 weeks. But I felt so bad from the meds and the anxiety that I didn't want or felt like eating. But I kept telling myself that I will endure the pain regardless of what happens and I will stay quit! This site kept me motivated to keep on enduring. Even on days I didn't feel good enough to go to work I would still post roll call at the same time everyday.

You can do this! We are 100% behind you!
eschommer hasn't been on the site in 2 days. My prediction is that he has already caved! Hope I am wrong.
Didn't cave. No way in hell thats going to happen. I have no desire to ever put that shit in my mouth again, just hate the withdrawal effects. Sorry i'll be better about posting roll. Chews for sucks!!

I found this site at about 3:00 AM on my 9th Day quit. I was right where you are...same symptoms. Some folks say the nic is gone after 4 days, which may be right, but it was still kicking my ass well into Day 9 I think.

I'm only at Day 20 now. Normal sleep has yet to return, but I do get a little. Metamucil is KEY!!!

Yesterday + 1...that's all you have to worry about. Post roll call, stay on this site as much as you can. Stay strong...you can do it.

I tell you what brother, my anxiety has been horrible through this quit man, ask the people in my group. I'm the guy who burned holes in his carpet pacing and jumping around my anxiety was so bad. But TRUST ME, it gets better man. I know (trust me, I do) that it is horrible now, but let me tell you what, when the good days come, and they WILL, they will be better than ANY good day you had while dipping. And sooner than you know it, the good days will come more and more often. You just need to power it. Your and my quits seem to be similar. Anxiety, no appetite, constipation. I take tylenol pm every night, that seems to calm my anxieties a bit, or I'd recommend nyquil or benedryl, any sort of sedative. I still take metamucil (day 74 here), it makes you feel like a 70 year old woman, but it WORKS haha. Your appetite will come back, I promise. I won't sugar coat it though, you WILL hit funks, and the anxiety and appetite will come back, but these episodes get shorter and shorter and further and further apart from each other. If you need anything man, shoot me a PM. Stay quit brother!!!

Yup, that too. Isn't this fun? It will get better and easier. Just don't let your mind fuck with you. It is not as bad as you think. Get up, take a walk, drink water and you will get past it.

Night sweats? I think i had to wash the sheets every other day from my stank. Yes, the body temp gets fucked up too. Funny how the body works on cleaning poison from it.

It gets better. Almost half way to the hall and feeling good. A little bout of the "funk" but got through it.
ESCH,
All of the things you talk about are normal. Go read my intro page. I have had all of the things you talk about and more. You are cleansing your body of a super toxin and you are paying for it.

Just remember you never have to go through this shit again as long as you stay clean...

NEVER AGAIN !!

Also, does anybody use a patch or nicotine gum? Would you recommend it?
No, and no.

You already have the nicotine out of your system with your nine days quit. Why in the world would you want to reintroduce it?

Are you sure you are in medical school?

Now, get over to the Jan '11 quit group, post roll and introduce yourself. Post roll everyday, keep your word to be nic free for 24 hours, then repeat.

Quiz on Monday.
