No roll call = no promise to any of us. Don't be d-bag like me and quit $30,000 later and at 44, quit now. But do it right and post roll.
Tacos taste better when your lips aren't shredded and tastebuds burned. I know. I wish this cat did too.

See you at age 40, dude.
Yet another one....so many "almost quitters"..... can only hope they wake up at this young age and not be like me..... FORTY years is FORTY years too long to be a slave to a friggin weed in a can.

Hey, I just got reamed for missing roll for one day. It is a serious part of the process.

I am on Day 8. You are doing this at the right time. I started right AFTER college, and 17 years, one marriage, two kids and a can of Kodiak a day later, I am on here trying to quit. Correct that, QUITTING. It can take a hold of you, and trust me, it is hard. Stick with the plan, and people are here to support you. Let your roomies know what you are doing, so that they can hopefully try to minimize some of the dipping in front of you. Hope you haven't caved yet...

Hey man, glad to see you on the intro boards and to see that you're still quit. I'll take this intro post as your roll post for today, but this isn't good enough. You need to get your name on that roll call at all costs. It is the single most important thing you do for your quit. Posting roll is the foundation in which all quits are built...and the more serious you take roll posting the stronger your foundation. 99.9% of cavers are those who do not post roll regularly. The 0.1% who post roll and subsequently cave - are even weaker, because they lied and went against their word.

Post roll ...your life depends on it.
First things first, I love tacos. They are very very delicious.

Next, and must more importantly... listen to Steakbomb. The dude knows what he is talking about. You need to be posting roll as soon as your eyeballs open up in the morning. You wanna know why? Cause your roommates have cans of chew laying around all over the place. And you owe it to yourself and your quit group (which is the December 2017 Quit Group - that is when you will hit 100 days of Quit Greatness) to not fail. If you post your promise and one of your asshat roomies throws you a can and tries to taunt you with "just one won't hurt ya", you can fall back on the fact that you gave your word today. Sound lame? I thought so too 1,713 days ago.

Now, a little history. You sound like a bright, young dude. Well, for years I hid under the guise that only "rednecks and me" chew. I'm no redneck for dang sure, so I can drop this anytime. I'm about as white collar as a job gets, so I'm strong enough that this doesn't have that big of a hold on me. But, I also tried to quit every day. And I failed until I turned FORTY and finally joined this place. Mr. Steakbomb is a pharmacist. Yeah, a pharmacist that chews. Sound nutty? Well it is... he wisened up around the ripe age of THIRTY FIVE.

Dude, this addiction is the real deal. Nicotine is as addictive as heroin. A can of chew has 3X the concentration of nicotine that a pack of smokes does. Put that into terms of how many cigarettes you would be smoking a day to get your level of nic you were getting from chew... and it is not a good equation. You owe it to yourself to be smarter than Steakbomb or me... you have a chance here to really set your life on a better path. One not riddled with hiding, deceit, shame... because I'm here to tell you that Steak and I both lied, hid, and made excuses to cover up this addiction. You can do this. But you have got to post roll. And you need to be doing it the second those eyes open up.

You wanna win? Join us. We win here at KTC. Nothing else works. Remember... you are dabbling in something as addictive as heroin. We can help you. But you have to make the first step.
One of 3 things is going on here...

1. College students are sleeping REALLY late these days and you haven't awakened to post your promise
2. You live on the International Date Line somewhere close to Bora Bora or Samoa
3. One of your asshat roomies threw ya a can and taunted you with "just one"

In any event, tacos are still f'n amazing. Just saying.

Swilson, thank you so much for the reply! Who knows, maybe I could get them to quit with me. It helps having people to go to on this site. I never realized I was being controlled by such a terrible substance, yuck! I will definitely post each day and stick to your advice. Thanks again.
For now, do this for yourself. You have so many people who will reach out and help you through this.if you put in he effort If your roommates aren't ready, don't force them. Own this on your own, stay close to the site and reach other to other fellow quitters. I went over 140 some days with this site just posting and ghosting, and I had built up zero accountability. Today, 4 years later, because of arrogance and not appreciating the process i have started over 24 days strong and have a pretty solid amount of support I receive daily. Don't make the same stupid mistakes lots of us have made, make your promise, build support and stay close to the site. It will work.

I'm quitting for the last time this go around and as stated before wish I could go back in time and quit when you are quitting. Stay strong and we will be clean sometime soon in December!

As for roommates I've learned to trust in them, tell them about your quit and make sure they know you are serious about it. Most people will give you props for doing so and you might even bring some others along the quitting road with you. I would also recommend going and playing some intermeral sport to kill time, my biggest trigger is when I have nothing else to do so the more active you are the less likely you will be fumbling for that can.

Stay strong and know that you can do it.

Tacotruck,

There are a lot of quitters here of all shapes and sizes. Old, young, dipped for 30 years, dipped for 2, believe it or not, men OR women. In any case, best decision you made today. My advice is to find December pre-HOF group. I'm in August group where you posted earlier...it's called August because that's the month we hit 100 days quit. You'll hit that in December so that's your group. They're a friendly bunch and will be stoked to have you. Also, it's a new group so you'll be one of the "founders" so to speak. Their is a lot of tools and material on this site from stories, pictures, comraderie with other quitters, and, most importantly; accountability. The price of admission? Post your promise every day first thing in morning. You'll learn how to do that with your new group. We're glad to have you aboard. I also suggest you share your digits with fellow December quitters as well as some vets. These have saved MANY quits before you in a time of need. I have 30+ KTC numbers in my phone and text with several of them daily as added accountability and know I could text or call any one of them if was ever facing a life or death situation like choosing to dip...that's what we face. We never know if a dip may be the one that gives us cancer. So, if you haven't already, flush any stash you have, spitters too. Find your group and get familiar with posting roll etc. then get ready for the suck fest because the next 48-72 hours will likely be your most difficult. But after that the nicotine will be out of your system. Then you just make your promise daily and never break our word. And you'll never use nicotine again. Seeds, gum (candy gum), beef jerky, herbal chew can all be big helps. NOT Nicotine Replacement thereaoy like Nicorette, patch etc. wish you the best and I'll be in December tomorrow expecting to see you there. I'll post with you in support and PM me if you'd like to exchange digits.

Tacotruck - Congrats on being here and being quit. I gotta say I envy you as I wish i could go back in time and quit when you are quitting !

As far as advice - invest time in your quit by being a part of this site each and every single day. The more you are involved the more you will hate the horse turds you used to sling in your mouth. The guys and gals on here have a wealth of knowledge and experience they are more than willing to share with you all you have to do is be open and truly want to quit. You can demonstrate your desire to quit each and every day by posting roll - this is the promise to take Nicotine off the table for the day to yourself but also to the rest of us quitters. You will do so in December pre-HOF this is your quit group.

Now as for the fog and those roommates of yours... lets address separately.

a. Drink a shit ton of water and steer clear of booze in your early quit especially if it is a trigger for you.
b. Let your roommates know that you quit and you would like a swift kick in the nuts if you ask for a lip or even think about buying a can. Who knows maybe they will take the chance to quit with you but at least you let them know.
C. If the pressure seems to be too high get some fake stuff for the near term when everyone is throwing one in.
D. get to know your fellow quitters - get their #'s and quit everyday with them - PM me and my digits are yours.

Stay quit !

Day 1 Complete
« on: August 29, 2017, 05:40:00 PM »
Hello all,

I quit chewing yesterday. I know it's not much, but I've been a can a day dipper for four years. I am a college student and my two roommates both dip. I need to quit for me, my beautiful girlfriend and my family. Do you guys have any advice? I feel like I'm living in a constant fog. Thank you all and congrats to my fellow quitters!
