Hey everyone-

You all can call me Myer. I have been dipping for over 10 years and recently had a scare that made the decision for me to quit pretty easy.

I have tried to quit countless times before but this is the one I really need. I need the support from others who are going through the same thing to make this work.

So any advice, tips, and motivation would be appreciated.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Hey Myer....congratulations on your decision to quit. This is the first time you've ever quit b/c quitting means never again! You haven't quit countless times before; you've only take little breaks.

As for advice, dig in your heels for as long as it takes. Some people have a suck that last a while, some have a suck that's over quick. You can't worry about tomorrow until tomorrow is here so today you don't have to quit for the rest of your life; today you quit for today.

Post roll and keep your word. When you're struggling, come in for some motivation.

The best advice I can give you is just be quit. I also "quit" countless times before and they all sucked. This time I actually quit and only 6 days in, I feel amazing!
Hate to be the wet shirt but quitting because of a scare isn't very effective and holds little weight with me. Why? The memory of those scares are short lived, I know. Been there and done that. After gum graphs, loss of most of my teeth and numerous other dip related health problems it took me 4 decades to wake up. I witnessed and sat with a good friend as he died with most of his face eaten away from cancer. When I finally found success it was due to a hatred for what nicotine had taken from me, not the teeth, gum tissue or tens of thousands of dollars. No it was the loss of freedom. I quit with you.
Myer, you have got some serious heavy hitters of quit giving you support in here. I see you on roll, start your day like that every morning and QLF EDD. I quit with you today.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

My advice is to be the biggest, baddest quitter I've ever encountered.

You control your actions, and you control whether you use or not. Be in control. Say "I quit" and back that shit up. Besides that, water (and lots of it), exercise, and limit your caffine(trust me you'll be jittery enough). Worry about the now, learn from your past, and plan for the future.

Most importantly, post roll. It's both your battle cry and cry for help.

Be badass. Be quit.
We quit one day at a time (ODAAT) here. Don't think in terms of forever. Just post roll for today that you won't use nicotine. Get up in the morning  repeat. Simple, but difficult. We have all been there before. It will suck  then it won't.

Also, remember that the nicotine bitch wants to own you. Get mad at her for costing you time/money/etc....

Shoot me a PM if I can help in any way. You got this! Welcome to this crazy family of quit.
This is how this site works friend. We hold each other accountable and we Don't take no shit from a little round can anymore. My biggest problem when I first quit was I cant do this forever. but you don't have to. you can quit by the hour or by the minute or by the day if you have to because we got your back. Remember its always a choice to use or not, Be Quit every damn day. welcome to the fam.
Hey Myer, Thanks for stepping up...

This is Outdoortexan (ODT) fighting and winning his battle with oral cancer so we won't have to. He's around here somewhere, everyday.
These dudes have it together. I'll just ditto everything that Wastepanel said. Make it happen.

While you're looking at those pictures linked above, keep in mind that ODT is here on the site. Actually knowing the guy in those pictures makes the battle very real.
