Awesome work Rob! Make sure you have a plan for your first quit weekend...
Gotta admit, I completely underestimated the weekend. Figured if I could get through the weekdays at work that I could handle the weekend the same way. WRONG! The temptations were so much different. Watching college basketball, walking to the park with the kids, watching a movie with the wife; all times I would previously have a dip in. Got through it, but I should have taken your advice more seriously. Now I know what to expect this weekend. Hopefully anyone else that reads this understands that the weekends are truly a different animal.
Rob,

Even though you weren't prepared - you still kept your promise which is a big win! Nice work. Just think of what you can do when you prepare. Speaking of which, do you have a "No-Cave Plan"? When the nic- bitch comes calling and you are most vulnerable, it sure helps to have a plan. Mine is that I keep a copy of the Contract to Give Up in my wallet. (have you seen that) And I have three quit brothers numbers at the top of my contact list. Part of my promise is to read and sign the contract ans call three of my quit brothers before taking any steps toward a cave.

PM me if you need some more digits. You've got this and it gets so much better.

Quit with you.

CJ
Thanks for the advice Christopher. Didn't really have a formal no-cave plan, but it can't hurt to put one together. The June goons have a persistent chat on mobile where we stay in constant contact with each other. It's good to have that so we can lean on each other and keep in contact. I'll send you my number in PM. Can't hurt to have more numbers from this fine group. In the meantime, I'll start working on a more formal plan.

Brothers, I hate to brag but I feel like a million bucks and I gotta share this story. Been going to the same convenience store almost every day for 3 years to get my dip. I haven't been there since my quit day 5 days ago. Ran out of coffee this morning so decided to head there and pick some up. I get to the store, grab some coffee, and head to the counter. As mentioned, I'm a regular there so as soon as I get to the counter the clerk has a can of Kodiak waiting for me. Without hesitation I just told him no and explained that I don't do that anymore. BOOM! Not today nic bitch. Not tomorrow or any other day for that matter. I'm done with you. You no longer control me. I know there will be many more tests but hot damn, my adrenaline is flowing and I feel like I just won a major battle. Wouldn't be able to do this without your support brothers.
Great stories, Rob. I can relate to the wife convo and the c-store. My wife said the same stuff, starting about when I was 28. I'm 44. Better late than never but It's awesome you didn't wait another 16 years like I did. At the gas station by my house, they all knew me. The greeting was, "Hi, one or two?" My response was usually, "Two please." I could not go in with my kids. I would literally make them wait in the car...dad of the year material. I am proud to be quit with you today.

Just wanted to give a shout out to my fellow June goons who are fighting the good fight. These first 3 days have been hell but you've made it bearable. On to day 4!

Hang tough rob time to find out what your made of. You got this man do anything to keep yourself busy these first few days. I would literally get down and do pushups at work the first couple weeks. Get MAD at nicotine it has lied to you for 13 years. But now you have the advantage brother you have us AND the knowledge that it was all a lie. If you haven't checked it out Google nicotine addiction 101 it really helped me understand the internal battle going on in your head. Don't listen the lies!! And remember, you can't have a dip if your in chat.
Keep kicking ass!
