My name is Craig. I started dipping @ age 14. 33 years straight with a 6 month quit somewhere in my 30s. I was just goggleing to see if the nicoderm patches helped with quiting dip. That's how I ended up here. It's crazy how dip has controlled so many aspects and events in my life. Up to Sunday night, I was 2 cans a day, everyday. So, I quit on Sunday night. I'm done and comitted to this. For my health, and for the $4-5k on dip a year? I have so many triggers it's stupid. I'm trying to think of anything that I did that didn't require me to take a dip either before, during or after.

I know I'll need some assistance to get through this. I don't know how much or how little, but I know this is gonna suck for a while.
I have a wife and 4 kids, 13,12,9 (3 girls) and one 6 year old boy. Not many hobbies. I do workout. I'd say I'm in decent shape but could stand to lose a few lbs. My weekends are pretty booked with kids sports. I want to start fishing and hunting again. And I will. Right now I'm focused on this quit.

Don't know if I posted right or correct. I did find my group and seem to be doing roll call correctly.
Craig, congrats on your new found freedom!! We have almost the exact same quit day just one month apart. This is gonna be the best thing you have ever done in your life...I jammed the poisin in my lip for the last 24 years by the mouthfuls. There was never a time you could find me without a dip in my mouth unless I was eating or sleeping....and half the time I would fall asleep with that " late night dip" still in. I mean how disgusting is that? How I was always having to tote a spit bottle around with me, everywhere I went. ....having my little girl walking around outside ,spitting all the time just because she saw me do it with little bro not far behind her.

Never forget how miserable the first week or so is because once you get through that, nobody would ever wanna go back through it again, for nothing in the world. Head down and stay focus. Never lose sight of the reason you quit in the first place. Never look back, never look again. Win the day and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

Pm me for digits if you need anything man. I'm damn proud to be quit with you and on this journey together. There is power in numbers and the folks in this site are real and we are all serious because this IS a matter of life or death.

I spent a lot of my time reading everything I could read on this site in the first week or so. It really helped me stay focused on my quit. Also pistachios, blow pops, and smokey mountain chew help get me through each and every day still...at day 31. Good luck and quit on!
The BEST day to quit was Yesterday, the second best day is TODAY!

Craig - welcome to KTC! Guess what? Today you became a non-dipper. Yeah, can you believe it? That fast. It's behind you. It's simple, just don't shove tobacco in your face ever again. (I said it was "simple," I didn't say it would be "easy"). You really are in control of this. Read every damn thing you can on this addiction. This site has great resources and there are also good links here to other sites. Read, read, read. And once you understand how nicotine has been playing you for a fool- get really pissed off. Because that anger will be a valuable weapon in your arsenal to stay quit.

Keep posting every day. Be a man of your word. Trade digits with your brothers and sisters on KTC. And those +1s will add up.

And, yes, this "suck" you are feeling now? It will get better. But I can tell you this ...the only way it will get better, is if you stop putting nicotine into your body.

If you need digits, I'm just a PM away. -FLLIP
Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

Great job posting. These first few weeks are gonna be pure hell! You're a grown ass man and I can tell you are sick of this bullshit and that's what it takes. Remember if you haven't already figured it out, you're going to be an asshole. Don't take it out on your family, they didn't stick that shit in your mouth, you and you alone did. You need to bitch, vent, raise hell come in here or your group and I promise you somebody will be more than happy to bitch with you because everyone at some point has to let go, so don't keep it in. We're all addicts here and we've been right where you are now and we understand. If you don't have digits already, I advise you to get several, at some point there's a very good chance you will need them. Damn proud of you and Damn proud to be quit with you! My digits are in your pm.
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Welcome. You nailed roll. Keep it up early every damn day. We wake up, piss, post.

You mentioned nicoderm patches - just so we're clear ( I'm sure you know, but have to make double sure). This is a completely nicotine free site, no nic gum, patches, lozenges, nothin' that contains nicotine.

Triggers are tough early in a quit, because most of us ALWAYS dipped while doing certain things. I'm about six weeks shy of one year quit, so I've faced damn near all my triggers. Guess what, you can mow the lawn, chop wood, walk the dog, go fishing, drive two hours alone, all without dipping. You can do anything not dipping that you did dipping. Thousands of us here stand testiment to that.

Get to know the guys in your group. Swap digits. Reach out when you need help. Refuse to cave.

Proud to quit with you.

Craig Congratulations on you decision, it will be the best one you have made.
Here are a couple tips to help:
- I see you posted roll that is the most import part, do it first thing every day
- get active and engage you fellow quitters, exchange phone numbers, etc.
- Drinks tons of waters, and workout, the first week is going to be terrible
- There are going to be a lot of first without chew since it has been 33 years.

you can do it and we can help
PM me if you need help,
