Okay Trickstar...I've seen you poking and lurking for the past few hours. I'm glad to see that you have decided that this quit pool looks good to you. Saying you're an addict puts you ahead of the game...you know you are at a bit of a disadvantage. It takes a little bit of humility to see where you are and where you want to go. This place can help you along that path. So, without any further spewdom from me, I present you the "secret sauce":
1. Hit the warm, inviting, pinkie salmon colored link in the upper left called "Welcome Center". That's the who/what/where/how of this place. Those things there are important.
2. One of them important things is "Roll Call". This is our pledge. This is our word. This is us acknowledging that there is a fight and we're damn well ready to win that fight for the next 24 hours. We quit one day at a time. That's about all us bunch of addicts can handle. Anymore than that and its a little too much for a simpleton like me. Keep it simple. 24 hours. We quit one day at a time. And we do this everyday. Early to set the table right for the day. Don't fuck with the program. You post roll first thing. Can't get to a computer? Text a quit brother or sister. Don't got any numbers? Get some.
How to post roll:
Roll CallWhere to post roll:
June 20123. Read. An educated quitter is a quitter protecting his quit. And that's important. If being quit is your top priority, then prepare yourself. There is more knowledge living in this site about getting this done than anywhere else. Read it all. Then read that shit again. Sponge it up.
4. Get involved. You could come in here and put down your "JoeBlowALoot +1" and take it slow, steady on your quit path. Sure. I'm sure that works for some folks. But the folks that protect their quits get involved. When you're in the fog, other folks are going to pull you through because they know exactly what its like. You'll do the same for some other folks. That's how it works. Get involved and stay close to the quit. If you want help, you got to give your best. For me, that means commitment and being vocal about how you're doing.
5. Reach out. You are not alone. Yes this is difficult. You think your internal organs dig all the toxins and carcinogens you've been pumping through it? Hell no. They're pissed. And that chemical has your brain all wrapped in these patterns. You got to break through those things. And when it gets real hard and you see your "hour of need", you damn well better use the tools of this site. Get into chat. Post in your intro. PM a quit brother. Reach out. Can't find some via one means then try another.
6. Tell folks you are quit. Make it real on the outside. Those folks will be watching you when we're not. Make it real out there as well.
Welcome. Fight. Plan. Protect.
