Amen man. Yeah I am definitely working on emotionally connecting a cut-off, cancer ridden, speech-inhibiting, fucked up jaw to that little can. Still holding on just for today. I have 4 and a half years clean from booze and drugs and put down cigs 2 years ago when my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. She has since passed on and always told me to quit the "chew tobacco". Now seems as good a time as any. I have lied to my girlfriend for too long.

Brad thank you my friend for posting roll and being a man of your word! You can do this, I'm not gonna sit here and sugar coat this because that would be a damn lie. To me it finally came down to the only way I can beat this shit is think about all the bad shit it's done to me and my family. I'm very much a family man, and I screwed them out of 31 year's of there father because I was a selfish prick! Now I have grandkids and they deserve better and I owe it to myself, this is my quit, I own it, it's my new way of life of choose to live one day at a time ! If I have to continue to post here till I die to stay quit then by God that's what I will do, one day at a time!
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Whatever it takes to keep the poison out of your face brother.
"Fuck nicotine dude. You don't need it. And you don't want it. It didn't do a thing for you and you know it." - worktowin
"today you dissided that shit wont control your life. and it wont. unless you let it." - drome
"Not thinking about nicotine is for people who've never used nicotine. We threw that option away with the first dip or drag on a cigarette. We are addicts, and cannot become un-addicted." - wildirish317
"You need to decide how much you really want to be quit." - pky1520
We are always at risk. And probably always will be. That is why I will never get "too quit" to post my +1. Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597

It's not bad. Definitely helps with the mental games. I don't see myself needing it much past the first week or two but for now one here or there is helping.

I just left Walmart with my first ever can of Smokey Mountain. Have never tried this stuff before but I do know that nicotine replacement supplements have never worked. I vow to be nicotine free but think the herbal stuff may help. Anyway, I'm taking a new suggestion so we'll see how SMS goes.
Fake is a good plan. Lots of us use it -- especially early in the quit. I use Oregon Mint ordered online. If you post that question in your forum, you will be amazed at the range of options.

The other thing is your need for the fake will fade away over time. No worries there.
Load up on seeds and gum as well. You may not need them right away but the variety will help. Water and exercise are your friends as well. Quit on!

I'll be damned if I'm going to continually be a slave and pussy out every time I feel discomfort. Fuck Skoal straight.
You might want to look into getting some alternative stuff to help you in the beginning part of your quit. For me it definitely helped make the first couple weeks easier. Or sunflower seeds but I was never a sunflower seed guy as I could never crack them neatly and would just end up chewing the whole damn handful of seeds.

Its going to be hard and its going to be tough. I quit with you today Brad. Make sure to post roll in your quit group as well.
Gotta agree here. Fake chew will save you ass, especially if say 1 has been this tough. It's going to be hard but you're brain will rewire how it works and doing things you always used to do while dipping will slowly but surely get easier. Stay strong. Use your group members and vets to help ya through a crave.. Throw in coffee grounds, cotton balls, candy, seeds... Anything but dip. Eventually you'll only need a substitute occasionally but in the beginning use it as much and as often as needed
Quitting for life, ODAAT.

Quit 8/9/15
HOF - 11/16/15
2nd floor- 2/24/16
3rd floor- 6/3/16

Still quit 1,480 days (as of today 8/27/19) and counting

Brad,

We've all been there on day 1, get through the first 3 days and it will get easier. But, we do it one day at a time here at KTC.

I suggest you check this Contract To Give Up, http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures ... o-give-up/ -- if you agree with this, I don't know what to tell you.
Quote
I love dipping more than I love my family. I know this addiction will kill me, and I ACCEPT that fact. I enjoy spending time alone with my can more than I enjoy spending time with anyone else on the planet. I look forward to losing my jaw, my tongue, my throat, my life – it’s worth it. When I am lying in my hospital bed fighting a losing battle against cancer I will feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that this is the path I CHOSE.
If you really want to quit, you can quit. Don't throw in another dip for the rest of the day, you can focus on tomorrow when it comes. Thats really all there is to it.

I'm dying to throw in a wad right now.
I was too on day 1. Change doesn't come all at once. It gets easier.

But you have to stand tall right the fuck now. That wad won't do anything good for you. Why did you quit in the first place?
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone.
