Hey MadMan. Welcome to the KTC quit train. I like to call it that because it is easy to get on the quit train , but it is a bitch to stay aboard at first. Since you did not quit the last time you wanted to, you merely refrained from using the crap for a few days. The nicotine bitch put those big tits back in your face and led you by the peter back into the store. She won that battle my friend. No excuses necessary like I was weak for a moment, I was drunk, I was with the home boysÂ…we have heard them all beforeÂ…many, many times. What matters around here is that you want to quit for you. As you may gather, most of the 16,000 boys and girls on this site are pretty hard core quitters that donÂ’t want to listen to your reasons, excuses or rationale for using nicotine. And they wonÂ’t listen no matter how hard you sugar coat it. What they will do is provide you with the tools to quit and help you along that rough patch of track. They will be there for you every step of the way to freedom. They will be there when you are hurting, when you are in the suck, when you feel like raging, venting or just talking to someone on the phone. Around here, we call that Brotherhood. Join us and you too will become a part of that select family of quitters. Put it off and the regrets will continue.
Once you decide to throw the shit in the toilet where it rightfully belongs, you will be a Day 1 quitter. Joining us means you will do a few things. First and foremost, you will post Roll. Roll is your daily promise to yourself and all of your new brothers and sisters that you will not use tobacco in any form that day. You will post your name and the number of days you are quit each day in the December 2013 quit group. Each and every day you will post your promise. No exceptions. That is the price of admission to KTC. Nothing more and nothing less. December 2013 does not have more than a few quitters in it right now, as it just opened up a couple of days ago. The reason you are put in December is that will be the month if you join us today that you will celebrate being 100 days free of nicotineÂ…your Hall of Fame date.
Now that you know the basics, it is time to read all you can on this site. Go to the welcome center and that will get you started. Commit to being quit and throw the shit in the toilet. Post roll and look up at your inbox (1). That is a personal message from me with my telephone number. Lets get your party started brother. Wayne
He tried to get aboard, but alas, the Bitch's big tits were more alluring than a life of freedom with a new wife.

So I tried to quit last week. In a moment of a blind, debilitating headache, I bought a tin.

I want to quit. But I'm afraid that the headaches and irritability are going to make my impending wedding / honeymoon feel more like a prison sentence than rest and relaxation.

Any advice on how to cope?
yep, same thing I've done for 3,009 days.

Don't do it.

Never again sir. Not for any reason.

So, how goes it, Madman?
I was a triple black belt ninja dipper until about a week before our wedding. I fessed up and just told her, "there's something I've been hiding from you," and confessing my "habit" was quite the relief. I continued to chew but never around her, but I felt better because at least I wasn't lying by omission any longer. And besides, I was "going to quit after we got married." Ha.

Fast forward to the honeymoon: I'm like three days into my quit and instead of focusing 100% of my attention on my bride and hanging loose in Hawaii, I am trying desperately to find a way to get my fix without my wife realizing that I'm THAT hooked. We were driving to go snorkeling or something and I abruptly turned off the highway and pulled into a gas station. I bought a tin, put in a sizable chew, and we got back on the road.

We drove in silence. She was revolted by the spitter, the wad in my lip, the smell... she had never even been around someone that chewed.

Later that night my wife and I had our first fight as a married couple about me hiding what was clearly more than a "habit" and me grossing her out on our honeymoon.

Fast forward 6+ years. She has brought up the "coming out of the addict and disgusting habit closet on our honeymoon" incident many, many times.

The moral of the story is: quit this instant and have as much quit under your belt as possible when you go on your honeymoon. I was too much of an idiot to realize it, but it is beyond stupid to let that crap mar such special time, even one iota.

Open your eyes. MAN UP. Quit now.

I'm a newbie, but I agree completely with the last reply. Honeymoon is a perfect opportunity to be quit (not that today is not a good day to quit either). I quit back in '95 on mine. Getting out of town helps a lot. Just don't be a DA like me and start again.

Seems to me like a honeymoon would be an ideal time to quit. You've already got free reighn over a great distraction. I mean that in all seriousness. Clue your bride in and get her on board. You're supposed to spend that honeymoon smitten with your new wife. I'll bet she'll be so thrilled you're quitting that she'll gladly go the extra mile to keep your mind off nicotine whenever you have a bad crave.

Besides that, you'll be out of your normal routine and surroundings, which is a good thing. You won't have that "Normally I'd be packing a dip right now." feeling all the time.

Reach out via PM and get some contact numbers. That is of utmost importance.

There is only one perfect time to quit and that is now...I puked/shit my guts out, body aches and pains when I quit... a headache would have been a welcome event.... but point is not one of us has had a better or worse time at being quit it sucks fucking ass in the beginning. I wont lie to you its going to suck that's why we say embrace the suck...the suck is your body getting closer to freedom. Getting closer to you getting your life back. Remember how bad it did suck and that you don't want to do it again. So actually the more it sucks the better it is for you unless you are a fucking sadist and just loves to feel like shit.

get here read read read there is tons of info to arm yourself with plus you will have a huge network behind you that knows what you are going through. No one else knows how you are feeling if they are not a nicotine addict. We do we are all addicts here.

Taking a dip to cure the headache --- dip causes cancer which causes death to get ready for a wedding to avoid a prison sentence which dip causes is a life prison sentence....addict logic 101 flawed at best
Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB
