Great to read your story. Alot like mine. Started chewing some where around 5th grade - habitually when I turned 15. 22+ years and the daily habit has been getting worse, over a can a day. I have 4 kids too and have you beat by one with dogs - 2 Black Labs. Also, my grandpa died of lung cancer at the age of 72 from smoking. I'm 39 and after several attempts I found this site and feel great about my quit. I still battle every day, especially since plenty of my co-workers pack right in front of me. My mouth still waters and the shit looks good. But I make my promise every morning and I will not go back on that promise. I also know that I would be throwing away 30 days and starting over - but who knows when that would be. One dip would throw me back into I'm sure several more years. Anyways, wife and kids are out so I am on here rambling - just strengthening my quit. Stay strong and continue to pave the road. I am right behind ya.

I have finally made it over to the introduction page. Not sure exactly how it works but here it goes.

I have been dipping since 1983. The last 10 years has been 2 cans a day. I would sit in my office, car, golfing, etc. everything was an excuse to chew. I really loved it.

My dipping buddy had mouth surgery around 1994 but that still didn't stop either of us. Saw my grandpa die of lung cancer from cigarettes and that didn't stop us either.

Well I am now 43 with 4 kids, a wife, dog, and way too man bills. An old-time dipping buddy GoldenDomer emailed me this website. The first time i went to it I read for a couple hours. Then I threw in another dip.

3 or 4 days later I went to site again and did more reading. Two things grabbed my attention more than anything - 1) if I keep using at the pace I was using I was going to get cancer (If I don't have it already) 2) why was I letting something control every minute of my life?

So I got a little angry and quit 57 days ago. As all of you know, the first few days are insane. I can honestly say that the genious of this site carried me through those first 20 days. I was going to give up - it was too hard and I couldn't handle the craves. However, a stranger known on this site as AGLawyer just happened to email me. Those emails and a couple others from vets on this site helped me fight through another day.

I am not out of the woods as the deamon is still haunting me but I am fighting it thus far and I quit again today. Thank you KTC for carrying me through the last 57 days- even the little amount of time that I quit is a miracle and it is due to the site.

Sorry for rambling on - I do feel a little better after writing that which I am sure is the point (perhaps I am not that dumb afterall). Stay quit everyone and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
