Welcome newbie,
Glad you could make it today. It is good to see someone who wants to get their life back.
It is real simple to quit here:
Post roll.
Keep your word.
Repeat next day.
I said it was simple, not easy. As a matter of fact (for me) it is hard as fuck. So we quit like fuck (QLF) one day at a time, around here.
It ain't no picnic. I am day 19 in the sept. quit group. I never dreamed I could "really" quit. But I am proof that it can be done.
There are many veteran brothers here who have quit before us. They are our inspiration and our accountablity officers, so to speak.
If you crave and cave, they will kick your ass from here to hell and back! You don't want to feel their boots on your ass, do ya? Great brothers to have in this quit ride.
My advice: read alot, post alot, drink alot of water, deal with everything head on. Ask for advice, or find the answer in the thousands of pages here at KTC.
You can do this, If I can then YOU know that you CAN!
Keeping my jaw and tongue...I like them.
It's poison I tell ya, You wouldn't drink Liquid Drano, would ya?

Welcome Eric, I got my start similar to yours and seem to have a similar background in relation to sports. You can QUIT, just come here one day at a time and promise your group and yourself not to use nicotine. Get some fake snuff, seeds, gum, whatever you need, hell suck your thumb just don't use nic. We are here for you as we all are going through this together.

Josh - Day 34
I joined KTC and QUIT nic on 5/10/12.

Eric
you are about to embark up on a very difficult but rewarding adventure. First off let me be the 1st to welcome you aboard. Second don't post here often, You go to your September quit group and post your promise to stay quit that day, EVERY MORNING , and keep that promise. That is what will keep you quit. Next it is great that you have a personal contact that you see daily that is a good start. As you spend time online read all you can, make quit friends, exchange #'s accept advise and help, give help and support in return. You will be hearing alot about EMBRACING THE SUCK! What is that: as you go through detox and reprograming your brain to function without nicotine everything sucks, remeber it, write it down make mental notes about how bad it is so you never want to go through it again. Check your inbox I'll drop you a short message.

Finally quitting for good
« on: June 12, 2012, 11:17:00 AM »
Today is day one, I'm 23 and have been dipping since I was 16, damn my immature teenage self, if I could go back in time I would kick that bastard in the nuts. Played football and baseball in high school, and thought I would be like the older guys and try to be cool. It might have been the worse decision of my life. At first I didn't dip often, usually just at baseball practice because I went to a military high school and we were constantly monitored so it was hard to get away with. Needless to say, I found ways to get around it, and coach didn't care at practice unless the athletic director showed up, so that is where we got in most of our dipping. I graduated and went on to play football in college, where most of our coaches dipped, and many of my offensive line comrades did as well, it was almost necessary to have something to keep us awake during film sessions in camp. I continued on doing 1/2 to 1 can per day throughout college. I know I have to ability to quit and stay quit, I tried once before and went three weeks, but caved to peer pressure and triggers, I was weak, but I know I can do it. If I can drop 50 pounds in the last five months and draw the will power to wake up at 4:40 every morning to walk to dog and hit the gym before work, then I can take this 500 pound gorilla off of my back and beat the shit out of him. I will be posting on here often because I don't know anyone who has beat this personally so I don't believe that people really understand how hard it is. I have one guy that I work with who beat smoking, and he has agreed to be my contact if I feel like caving. Thank you everyone who takes the time to read my story and good luck.
