Howdy John,
I've dipped for 30+ years. We're all going through the same battle with nicotine. Find some buddies on this site that you can PM or call and stay strong in your quit. Listen to everything, ask alot and read as much as you can on this site. Log onto live chat and join in on the fun.

Hello All:
My name is John I am new to the forum and new to the list of quitters.  I hear this is going to be a real bear.  I am hoping this forum will be of some help.  I have been chewing for 11 years about a can a day sometimes more.  I'm avid outdoorsmen and hoping I can keep my self busy with that and keep my mind off of the chew.  The only problem I can already see is that when Im doing these things I always had a pinch in that is going to be hard to change but I know it can be done.  Wish me luck
Hello John

It doesnt take 3 days, or 3 months, or 3 years to quit chewing. It takes merely one moment in time to make the choice. Do it for yourself, and do it for a better life.
good advice!

Good luck toxo! We've all been there, and we are all there to help. I am on day 32, and I also was more prepared to fail than stay quit when I joined this .org. It can be done, and if you tell yourself you Will be quit, you Will stay quit.

  • Interests: Have been a hockey goaltender for 24 years and will be leaving next year to play professionally in Sweden. Hockey is my biggest interest and when I'm not playing it I am probably watching it. When I'm not on the ice it's either fishing, hunting, or snowmobiling that takes up most of my time. I enjoy winter and fall when we have colder weather here which may be weird, but I just find hot weather annoying.

Hey John,
I'm only on day 9 so I'm not really going to shoot you advice on quitting on my behalf but a lot of experienced quitters have wrote in on my intro page to a very similar situation you are having. I also found that everything I did to relax or get away involved having a chew to go along with the occasion but others have told me that if you stick it out and start doing these things chew free they will get easier to do without a chew. I just went golfing over the weekend without a chew and even though it was tough at times I've never felt so good knowing I didn't give into the can and I didn't let me or my August roll call team down.
Anyway you can do this so kick this habit and enjoy life without cancer in your lip. If there is anyway I can help or you need someone to talk to don't be a stranger. See you in roll and congrats on starting life in the right directing CHEW FREE!

John, I am on my 3rd day after 15 years. I don't know if you've got your quit on yet but I hope to see you in the august roll call.
Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. -
