Ab I noticed you checked back on the site this morning but didn't post roll. You can learn how to do that by clicking the community link on the top of this page, then click the Welcome Center link, then finally "how to post roll". Here's how the site works. We take quitting one day at a time here, but we take that day seriously. Every morning when you wake up you should post roll (you'll be in April 2015) that roll post is a promise to everyone here that you will quit for today. tomorrow you can make another promise. You'll be surprised how the days can add up. It might sound hokey, but we are all quit, and you have been dipping for 37 years, my guess is most of them trying to quit. So buy into the program, suck it up because it is hard, and get this done.

To be honest I never wanted to quit and I'm not sure I want to now. Not many better feelings in my life than waking up, drinking a cup of coffee and throwing in a dip.
As long as you let the addict in you do the thinking with statements like this, you will not quit. You've got to want this more than anything. If you think dip is a good thing, you are wrong. It is stealing your money and trying to kill you so that a fat cat big tobacco guy can enjoy a trip to the Virgin Islands.
Let me know if you find your motivation.
You won't quit until you want to quit more than anything in the world.

I thought I couldn't live without dipping. Thought it was just part of me. Bullshit!! Life without Copenhagen is great!!

Hi Ab,

We have a similar path in life (but you started 4 years before I did). Being nic free is a wonderful feeling. Living your whole adult life with a brain soaking in nicotine really messes you up. Sounds like the nic bitch has your brain convinced that dipping is a romantic part of your life.

I was the same way. Everything was better with a big lipper. I found out that it was all lies. Everything is better for me now since I've been a 116 day quitter. Just read all you can on here. Read the HOF speeches, other intros, and the Words of Wisdom. Lots of ex-soldiers like us, hunters, businessmen, housewives, etc. Nic bitch shows no favoritism with her victims.

When you know you want to quit for YOU, and want to commit, KTC will be here waiting for you to post a day 1.
HOF Speech

Here in THIS house, we Kill the Can. If it's not a top priority, go to one of the bitch sites where they "hurt the can" or "call the can names." - Pre

This is so much more that just throwing your name on a list, it is placing your word or promise that you will not use nicotine and it should be done everyday. - MCarmo44

I need this place, because i am an addict. I cannot forget that...if i do i will forget how to quit. - Schaef418

37 years of dipping
« on: December 26, 2014, 06:47:00 PM »
Hey everyone, just found this site. I took my first dip of snuff, Copenhagen, right before football practice in 1978 when I was in the 5th grade. Played around with all the brands (Good Luck, Happy Days, ect), but Copenhagen was what I became addicted to by the time I was 15 or so. I was born and raised in Texas and it was a pretty acceptable thing to do. In junior high school you were a cool guy if the back pocket of your Wranglers had the ring on it. My high school actually had separate dipping and smoking areas.

When I graduated high school in '86 I joined the Army, Airborne Infantry, and I'm sure yall know how snuff and the infantry go together (that overseas Cope in the plastic can blows). When I went to ranger school in '92 we weren't allowed to have tobacco, but I actually risked getting kicked out because I snuck it the entire time. Would have been a bad career move.

I've been a can a day guy since I was 15 years old up until four months ago. For reasons I'm not even sure of, I started putting half the amount in my lip and went down to half a can a day. It was easy. That is actually a major life event for me haha. It is nice I'm only spending half the amount of money.

To be honest I never wanted to quit and I'm not sure I want to now. Not many better feelings in my life than waking up, drinking a cup of coffee and throwing in a dip. I've had one cavity my entire life, my teeth are pure white, I always change where I put it in my mouth and have never had an issue with my gums rotting or anything like that. I've been lucky.

For what it's worth, I've never been married. I was engaged once, we had a daughter, but as is typical in the military, when I was away she cheated on me and that was that. My daughter is now 22 and I live in North Carolina a few blocks away from her.

But I don't know, maybe it's time. This is the only vice I have, I haven't drank in 15 years and of course don't do drugs. But lately I've been thinking what life would be like without it. I'm in good shape, serious into road cycling and mountain biking and ride 150-200 miles a week. But I weigh 155-160, I've never been huge and the thought of gaining weight is cool. I would like to get up to 170-175. If I quit dipping and just eat more I could probably get there, even with all the calories I burn. I guess I'm here because I need some motivation :D
