Congrats on being a new dad. Those little ones sure do get us thinking about our own life don't they? How can we be our best to give them the best? Looks like a light went off for you. I can tell you that the light will be very bright right now because you feel determined and hopeful in this moment. Soon however, that light will fade and get dim, just like your drive to really quit. You'll be stopping on your way to that work thing at the very last possible place to get a can or two to make sure you actually have it with you "in case". I know because it is what my addict brain would have talked me into just like yours will. Addiction - ain't it a bitch.

See, a lot of us have planned to quit before. I planned several birthday quits as a gift to myself, New Year's was always good for a quit, the first of the month, when I got a new job, after this can is gone etc. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. It just doesn't work.

Let me tell you how to quit. It is really simple actually.
1- flush everything nicotine, chew, smokes, gum, patches, ecigs, cigars etc...
2- post roll (this is your promise to yourself and to all of us that you will not use nicotine in any form for 24 hours)
3- honor your post and keep your word
4- don't put that shit in your mouth

See - simple. I didn't say easy though. That is where we come in. There is a lot of great help just sitting here for you to read about your addiction and how to cope, what to expect and how this place of accountability works. We talk, you listen. You talk, we listen. You ask questions, we help with answers. You scream in rage, we rage with you. You battle on hour by hour and we quit along side of you letting you know we get it. We have all been there. We keep pushing on!

The people within these walls helped me save my life. I am telling you....now is the time and if you wait, you won't be back. Reach up and grab any single hand you see in front of you for the help we are offering. You will never regret doing that! Being quit is the best gift you can ever give yourself. Not only will you see that one day, but you will be giving your kiddo the best father you can be.

Quick! The light is getting dim.....

I'll be here quitting like a girl, but I'm ready to help if you are ready to quit. All you have to do is WANT to be quit and then just do it.

I am a new dad who doesn't want my son to have a dad who dips or, worse, one with cancer.br /br /I'm terrified of getting cancer and I've got to quit and let my mouth heal. It's getting rough and patchy in there and it's time to stop.br /br /I'm leaving to go on a secluded retreat for my job Monday through Wednesday. My goal is to use this time away from civilization to quit. I'm not taking any dip with me and it will be impossible to get any while I'm there.br /br /I'm very afraid of anxiety and panic attacks as I already have an anxiety disorder.
Welcome Soil, the way to do it is to do it NOW, throw all that shit away, the first 3 days SUCK, being able to be on this site during those days help, posting roll, being able to talk to fellow quitters and reading everything you can will help get you through it. Take it ODAAT, and get your quit on.
Hey Soil, br /I agree, stop now... Your building anxiety by just thinking about quit. Go throw it in the toilet now... Not the trash can, where you can go digging for it later tonight! Dang... br /You've have to start now and spend this weekend on the sight reading and get the poison out now. br /Go throw it away and get back on here. Then we will talk about what's next. br /Ps nicotine is not helping or controlling your anxiety. Nothing good comes from tobacco.
Stop now in case tomorrow or next week never gets here! You can do this man up and think about all the reasons you want to quit (the main one for yourself! ) Brother your an addict get started here now 1-2 days with these super quitters will be irreplaceable advice some 3 days in the Congo without any! Post roll now you're wasting valuable time and information! I quit today so can you!
Exactly. Quit now! Exercise once or twice a day. Drink as much water as practical, and sweat or pee it out. Also start eating fiber (oatmeal and fruit for dinner)!

Obviously the answer is to quit today, as in right now. But let me sweeten the pot - do you really want to be Day 1-3 in front of co-workers? By my calculations you'd be on Day 6 on Monday, where things are starting to feel better.

Quitting is hard, and the first 3-4 days SUCK BAD, so get it done now and be on an upswing for your retreat. Learn to post roll, hell, get some numbers of quitters to text with, and be armed with those for the retreat.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.
