Echoing Cap's sentiment. Congrats on getting through that long! I quit the same day as you (June 28th) so you're in our October 2018 quit group. Trick I've learned is to stay active here, lean on the vets , post roll early every morning to our group and get to know people here. At first I wasn't sure about texting with people but it adds a human element and they help you get through the suck. I've even met up with a fellow KTC quitter and that makes it even better.

I've stopped using nicotine for longer stretches in the past, but this is the first time I've felt it is for real and that I have a plan when the addict on my right shoulder starts whispering in my ear. Shoot me a PM if you want digits. Hope to see you post that promise. Quit with you today.

Finally made the quit - but still worried
« on: July 17, 2018, 02:17:00 AM »
Hello everyone, this is my first post in the forums and IÂ’m glad to be here. I had my last dip on the 28th of June 2018 and IÂ’m happy with my decision more and more everyday. I took my first dip when I was 13 years old, I was on and off of it for short periods of time until I was 17 or so and started dipping heavier. I dipped steadily my first 2 years in college about a can every other day, until about 2 months ago. I really just lost the urge to dip all together I found myself reaching for the can less and less until one day I took my last dip and never went and bought more.. I would have to say the cravings were not hard for me, I didnÂ’t really have the desire to dip anymore it seemed more like a habit so I believe that has been helping me with my quit. The first week I had a sore Throat and bad headaches, I got over those and I started to have really bad indigestion and heart burn the second week and started taking some medication that cleared that up. I am now in the 3rd week of my quit and I have began to develop a couple sores in my mouth and for some reason they really have me worried, the first couple days they were sore and I have been treating them with peroxyle which has helped some but my mouth and tounge still feel weird. I just wanted to see if this is normal and has anyone else had the same thing happen to them. I go to the dentist at about 12 hours from now and it really has me stressed out, I went to my regular doc at a week into my quit and got an exam and he said everything looked great but IÂ’m still worried. Other than the weird mouth feelings everything is going great, I have decided to turn my life around entirely and have taken up mountain biking to lose some weight and become overall a healthier person. In my first 3 weeks of riding 10 miles every morning and adjusting my diet I have lost 10 lbs and feel amazing. IÂ’m hopeful that I will stay off the can for good and never touch that stuff again. Feel free to message me would be happy to speak with some people in the same situations!
