Im a 21 year old college student who just finished finals. I felt there is no better time than now to quit, having a stress free month without school before my final semester, and I hit the real world.  I have been dipping since I was 15, but it progressed to a can a day when I hit college.  I have had other addictions, and this is the last one I need to overcome.  I am not only doing this for myself, but for my family, friends, and girlfriend. I have lost 32 pounds, and counting since August of this year.  I feel that if I can drop the weight, I can also drop the can.
Welcome to a great decision Bama. Just want to clarify a couple things.

First, there is no such thing as a stress free environment. Shit is going to happen. Whether it happens this month, or next month, or next year, you've got to get in the mindset that dipping was not a stress reliever. Dip did not 'relax' you. Dipping did nothing but soothe your craving for nicotine. You are a nicotine addict.

Next, your family and friends don't understand what you're about to go through. We do. Quit for you. Just you. You are enough. Quit for YOU so you can be better for them. It may sound convoluted, but quitting for you is most important.

Finally, welcome. You say you've battled other addictions and I applaud you for taking this one on. This is THE place to find the support and tools you need to kick that bitch to the curb.

Great Decision ! I agree with the no better time to quit than now part, and that is the mindset you will need to keep daily. Just quit for now!

It is not uncommon to gain a little weight when you quit, so don't let that be a reason to start dipping again. You can drop the weight again. Get some gum, candy, seeds, straws, toothpicks, whatever you need to keep your mouth occupied. I chewed seeds like rabid bird for months.

Drink plenty of water! When you think you have had enough drink more. Spend plenty of time reading and getting to know the guys in your group.

Follow the program here and I promise you will have the freedom you seek. Very simply

1. Post roll
2. Keep your word
3. Repeat tomorrow

STAY QUIT

I'm 44, I wish I quit when I was 21. Lot's of unnecessary headaches, and lots of money thrown away. This will be the best decision of your life. I tried to quit many times throughout my life, KTC is the only way that works. Read the WELCOME CENTER upper left. Post your promise. Pm me if you need anything..

Welcome welcome. There is no perfect time to quit, but after finals is certainly a good time if there ever was one.

Pay a visit to the salmon colored Welcome Center in the upper left of the page. Read what posting roll means and how to do it, then head on over to Pre HOF March 2013 and put yourself on roll. Then you keep your word. Then you repeat it tomorrow. It's as simple as that. It won't be easy, but we all do it, so can you.

Check your Inbox(1) buddy. You've got mail.
