Congrats Lakraz on your decision to quit.
My view is everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves here. When you fail you need to know the guys here will have your butt.
Smokey let the man show us the quit.

Now Lakraz you have 2 guys sticking up for you myself and Glenn so make it happen no BS just DO IT NOW!!!!
You will not fail. When you succeed today, you will succeed tomorrow.

Your butt is safe - unless we meet in person.
Sounds like another reason not to fail Smokey!

Appreciate all the support guys. BTW: I've posted roll every day. Today is day 6 for me and i'm in a fog like none yet. Could also be the beer I had last night too 'na na'

Hello guys. First day quitter here. Like most, I've tried before. The difference is i've never really been committed. I've never really wanted it this bad. I've handled the first few days of nicotine and cravings, but about that 5-6 day into my quits I've given in to the little voices.

Not this time! I will not buy the crap.  'Finger'
Why are you so determined this time? What's different?

Also, how are you going to deal with those relentless little voices? What's your plan for success?
Well, I don't think there's a magical switch that will turn the thoughts off. My plan is to have numbers ready (have two so far), seeds ready, fake dip, gum, whatever it takes. I've quit for a week before, and once I got past that first week, I gave in because there was no real reason I had quit before other than just the ugly/embarassing factors of dipping.

I have family at statke this time and my life is more important.
What is it about YOU that makes your life more Important now?
I don't think I understand your question Smokeyg. I've never been as determined to quit before because i've ignored or not fully grasped the implications of cancer like I do now. If dip was completely harmless and was not a health threat at all, we'd all be dipping happily and this site would not be here.

As I stated, I have kids that need me. People can say all they want that you should do it for yourself and not your family, but I don't buy that. My family (having a husband/father) is much more important to me than pleasing my own ego or pleasing anyone on this site. If I were single, I'd want to quit for health reasons as well, but possibly be less motivated.
What's with the 3rd degree Smokey?

Lakraz, your plan sounds simple enough and straight forward. Use the site. Read, post, and get numbers. It's about accountability. Not easy and it's one day at a time, a little cliche, but if you want it, you can have it.
Congrats Lakraz on your decision to quit.

At the risk of putting words in Smokey's mouth....

I think what he is getting at is the importance of quitting for YOU and YOU alone. Sure it is great to have tertiary reasons - like for your kids, etc. but until I truly quit for MYSELF, I couldn't get it done. I quit for my wife a bunch of time - as soon as she pissed me off (weekly) I pulled the old "I'll show her" and went straight to the C-Store.

Your plan sounds very well thought out and it is very similar to what I used - and still use to this day. Numbers in your phone will prove invaluable. Let me know if you;d like another and I'll be happy to answer any call/text you make.

Welcome Brother.
Yeah we get it. The line of questioning was a little odd though.
glad to have ya man,welcome...
I agree.
I also spoke too soon after some looking Lakraz has not posted roll that I can find.
I know that when someone is first stating here it is intimidating when someone calls you out. I give them a chance first and you are right the I will show you did not cross my mind.

So Lakraz if you are still here post up.
Lakraz has posted roll but was bumped.

My line of questioning was not meant to rake him over the coals, but to provide an opportunity for Lakraz to further reflect on his own situation and plan. Everyone is different. I was not trying to push any sort of agenda, rather, I was attempting to provide an outlet for lakraz to define his own agenda.

I don't have kids myself, but I am currently working on fixing that. I imagine children can provide a very powerful motivation to improve one's own health. But Lakraz, realize that your life has immense value and importance in itself.

Keep the quit.
