Wastepanel is right. THere will be difficult times. We all have them. The key to success is being prepared for those tough craves. Nicotine is a sneaky, patient mistress. She knows exactly when to whisper in your ear and doesn't mind waiting weeks or even months to offer her shallow, deadly promises.

Sounds like you are making some other good changes to go along with your quit, and that is great. I eventually took advice from some of the vets here and totally rearranged by life. I'm the best, healthiest version of me that I have been in many, many years. It feels good.

You are feeling good now, and I can promise you three things:
1. It only gets better. Month after month, this battle becomes easier.
2. You will have bumps along the way.
3. If you're not prepared for those bumps, you'll fail.

Proud to be quit with you. Reach out if you need anything.
Nice job lakeracer, keep it up! I can only echo what waste and radman said. It keeps getting better. However you must stay vigilant and never take your quit for granted. Think back to when you were dipping, you'd arrange your whole day (life?) around ensuring you had your poison. Try to put as much effort into your quit... I quit with you today!
Fish, eat, sleep. Repeat.

That is really fucking awesome man, and I am very proud of you.

I was just talking to my friend on Sunday (who is now up to half a pack of cigs a day). He said he's never had a problem quitting. It's staying quit that's the problem.

He's right, and I threw some KTC knowledge down on him just like I'm about to throw down on you:

Don't get too comfortable in your quit. Today is day 19, and although you may not be "hurting", there will be times that you will. That's why we quit one day at a time here.

We come here each morning and post our promise not to use. We keep our word. We have some fun. We support the shit out of each other. But we only do it for the day.

It adds accountability to our quits. I don't want to let down any of my friends here, and I don't want to see the consequenses if I do. It motivates the hell out of you.

Please visit the welcome center up top (black banner, salmon colored). Read what we're all about. Please post with us because we are always looking for badass quitters to join the ranks.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

I want everyone to be quit. Even the assholes.-Probe1957 1/18

Ignoring history or erasing history fixes nothing and leads you inevitably down the same path.-69franx 04/30/2021

Day 19 craving at times, but maintaining
« on: May 14, 2012, 01:00:00 PM »
Stopped on 04-25-12, first couple of days were HELL. Now on day 19 still nicotine free. Still have a craving every now and again, but nothing like the first couple of days. It's nice to see a forum dedicated to this addiction.

Some of the tips also helped me to get through the detox. Never thought I would group Kodiak in with drugs like coke or heroin, but it is (note, I have never done those). I can only imagine what it is like to kick those.

I dipped a can a day for 15 years, and stopped for one year 5-6 years ago. All it takes is one dip to suck you back in, and it did. Blood pressure is down now and I'm eating more and healthy. Also getting a lot more sleep and going to bed earlier.
