Dear Daddy-

I wish you could have been there today to see me in my Ballet Recital, I felt like a princess.  But your addiction was too strong for you to deny.

I wish you were here to hold me and tell me there was no “Boogie man” under my bed.  But you put your addiction first.

I wish you were here to teach me to drive a car.  But tobacco would not let you.

I wish you could have seen my high school graduation today, I sure missed you.  But you chose to continue to use tobacco over your family.

I wish you could have been here tonight and met my prom date, I think I am in love.  But your resolve to quit dip was not strong enough.

I wish you were here to help me move into my dorm room at college, I think I will like it here.  But you chose to continue to use tobacco.

I wish you could have been around to give me words of encouragement on my wedding day and walk me down the aisle, it would have meant the world to me.  But you were not strong enough to put down snuff once and for all.

I wish you were here today to hold your first grandchild, you know he has your eyes.  But tobacco was too important to you.

I wish you had never used tobacco daddy, my life would have been much happier.

I love you and miss you,

Your daughter

QUIT PLAN: A Basic "How To"

Before you start, remember why you are here in the first place. This is your personal quit plan, what follows are just some rudimentary guidelines. Make it your own; just like this site take what you need and ditch the rest.

Step One: This step is the only “mandatory” step, the rest are only strongly suggested. : Include posting roll as part of your plan, posting roll is BIG part of what makes this site successful

Step Two: The tangible reminder; print out the contract (see below), make your own contract, put cancer pics in your wallet, write your numbers on a picture of your kid. Carry with you anything that when you look at it, you are reminded of why you came here in the first place.

Step Three: Identify your triggers; know what they are and make plans on how to avoid/ cope with them. (not doing said activity, fake snuff, seeds, exercise, coming here and reading forums or jumping into the chat room, etc.)

Step Four. Get numbers! Anyone that reaches out to you- ask for their number. Anyone whose post’s you enjoy or identify with- ask for their number.  When you get them, use them even if it's only a simple text message.

Step Five: Make goals; Short term only at first, but as the fog lifts remember to stick with AND update your plan. This is because the Nic bitch is crafty and will do anything she can to trick you.

This is your plan! If itÂ’s working stick with it, if not- fix it!

(Contract stolen from the main page)

Contract to Give Up

I give up my quit. Quitting is impossible and I cannot do it. I love dipping more than I love myself. I care about dipping more than I care about my personal health. I love dipping more than I love my family. I know this addiction will kill me, and I ACCEPT that fact. I enjoy spending time alone with my can more than I enjoy spending time with anyone else on the planet. I look forward to losing my jaw, my tongue, my throat, my life - it's worth it. When I am lying in my hospital bed fighting a losing battle against cancer I will feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that this is the path I CHOSE. My only regret will be that I didn't start dipping earlier in life. I will feel sorrow for my familyÂ’s heartbreak and suffer untold pain, but I know you must sacrifice for the things you truly love.
I know ALL the consequences of my actions and I accept them fully and without regret. I hereby choose to give my life to this addiction - I do so with a smile on face.

17 days.  This is my note to self.

In case your thinking about walking away from this site. Maybe your quit for 1, 2, 3, 4 hundred days, maybe even 1000.  Good for you, congrats, now don't fuck it up.  There are stories upon stories of guys who thought they could walk away and make it on there own.  Then they show up posting a day 1.  You will not break your word.  Make sure you post early, EVERY DAY,  and you will not fail this quit.

You daughter hasn't been born yet.  Make sure her dad never dips.  Ever.  Not one moment she draws a breath should you be trying to kill yourself.  Cause you may succeed.  Then what?  Who's going to watch over her?  Huh?  NO ONE HOLDS THAT RESPONSIBILITY BUT YOU.  Got that?

What about Jack?  As I write this, he think you are the balls.  He would spend every waking moment with you if he could.  He tries to wear your clothes, say the things you say, he even walks behind you as you cut the grass with his plastic lawnmower.  You think he won't dip if you do?  Huh?  Lead by example.  Be everything you want him to be.  Don't be a pussy and say, "Don't make the same mistakes as me.  This shit is bad for you."  Man up.  Strive to be as awesome as he thinks you are.  You're not going to be perfect, fucknut, but your best is pretty damn good.  And at the very least he will learn that a man never excels, or wins, if he backs down or fails to give his best effort.

So, if you think you've got this beat, that's just fucking pisser.  Don't walk away from this site that gave you the kick in the ass you needed.  Be that veteran who made the difference for you in your first day, week, month of your quit.  Be that guy who says the things I haven't even heard yet, or gives the lessons I haven't learned, that makes the difference is someone else's life.  Congrats on saving your own life.  Now help someone else, because you couldn't have done it alone.

Regards,

You

But that was before yesterday. Because yesterday I found this site. No more trying. I've been killing myself with the nastiest shit possible for about 17 years.

Between now and my 100 day mark, my son will turn 5, my wife will have our second (a girl), I'll turn 35 and probably a lot more. But today, none of that matters because I'm not looking past today.

Today I am quit. Today is day 2.
