I've been dipping for almost 35 years. While I have quit a few times, once for more than a year, I've been dipping probably 90% of those 35 years. I spent the past year attempting to quit with nicotine lozenges and gum, always ending up back on the dip. I decided 18 days ago that I would quit cold turkey and once and for all. So far, so good, but it hasn't been easy. I'm still not sleeping well and wake up at 4am wanting my early morning dip, but have so far been able to avoid it. I need something else to do with myself at 4am other than dipping away the morning.

I'm hoping that making myself accountable to others on this site will encourage me to quit for good this time.
Welcome j c m! Great choice to be a quitter. I was a user for more than 35 years, clean now for almost 600 days. If I and many others on this site can do this, so can you. Don't wish, hope or try. Simply do post your promise to yourself and us each morning to not use today. Don't worry about tomorrow or forever. Just quit today. Get to know other quitters, particularly in your group. Let them help hold you accountable, and try to help hold them accountable. It is a simple method that works extremely well if you commit to doing it. PM me if I can help you.
Fish, eat, sleep. Repeat.

You stopped for a bit. You never quit. The second that you put a fresh turd in your lip you changed from being a quitter back into an addict.

It's impossible to quit an addiction if you're still using the substance you want to quit.

Cold turkey is what we do here. We all have done it and there is not reason why you can't. Don't worry about tomorrow or forever. Focus on today as that is all you can do. Post roll*, honor your word, repeat tomorrow.

Drink a ton of water. Exercise. Go to bed early. Punch the clown as if he stole your paycheck if that's what it takes.

We don't "hope", we quit. You have to quit for you. You have to do the hard work of keeping your word all day. We can give support whenever you need it. The problem with this online environment is that we can't "see" you to see when you need that help so you have to be man enough to reach out and let us know when.

Post Roll: Why? How?
Bravo!!

Read up, JCM. Then read it again. Really soak in what Evil_Won is saying here.

The bottom line is that you have to completely change your way of thinking. We all did.

Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

It will if you use the tools here. Post roll daily, honor your word, repeat. Glad to have you here. Buckle down, nut up and get involved.

Well at 4am you'll likely be the first guy to post roll :)

Get active on this site, get to know others, read everything in the intros and HOF speeches, then turn around and start telling someone newer than you how it's done. We quit here one day at a time through brotherhood and accountability and knowledge of our opponent. Build that knowledge and put into action the simple wisdom that so many people here have to share. Drink the kool aid as they say. Take your life back.

Peace.
