Sorry my intro was so brief, I think I finallly figured out how to use this site. I have chewed for 12 years. Started in highschool from the older guys on the football team. My dad also chews a can of cope a day since he was 12. I started on Rooster and Kodak and then went to Cope long it for a couple years. The last few years I have chewed Grizzly wintergreen pouches, I told myself if it's in a pouch it must be safer, even though I know that's a lie. I have told my wife I'm going to quit so many times, she just rolls her eyes at me. The last year I have really been feeling the need to overcome this addiction for ever, especially for my kids there only 5 and 8. I don't want my son watching me chew, like I watched my dad growing up. I am at the end of day 2 and feeling the fog, not as bad as when I tried to quit years ago because I have cut down my nicotine intake a good deal the last few months. It's amazing to me that a habit I told myself would last a few months turned into a 12 year habit in the blink of an eye. Also knowing how bad the shit is and still doing it. I will never go back to chewing again. This sight is awesome I wish I would have discovered it years ago.
Bryce, my advice is to read, read, and then read some more. The first benefit will be changing your vocabulary. This is not a habit. The saying on here is picking your nose is a habit. As in, you might go several days without picking your nose and not even think about it. Well that, and it isn't going to kill you.

My friend, we are nicotine addicts. This is admittedly a difficult concept, especially for a young guy like yourself, but it is the truth. Only addicts would keep going back to a carcinogenic poison knowing full well that the next one might be sending us down the irreversible path to death. Stick it out. Show up early every day and post roll. Read as much as you can, this site has more information than you could ever hope to remember, so use it. Become so well-versed in quit that nicotine could never trick you into going back. We call these the tools of quit. Roll, numbers, forums, intros, etc. These are your tools to fight this battle every day. Use them. They're here for you and me to use at our fancy, and all that for free. Not exactly free. Your admissionnis posting your promise every day. You've got this. Drink the kool-aid by the gallon and this will all start to come together for you much sooner than you think.

Reach out to your quit bros and start building those bonds. It seems weird at first, but there is a pretty good chance it will save your life. You just have to let it.

Quit with you today brother,

King
"Fuck nicotine dude. You don't need it. And you don't want it. It didn't do a thing for you and you know it." - worktowin
"today you dissided that shit wont control your life. and it wont. unless you let it." - drome
"Not thinking about nicotine is for people who've never used nicotine. We threw that option away with the first dip or drag on a cigarette. We are addicts, and cannot become un-addicted." - wildirish317
"You need to decide how much you really want to be quit." - pky1520
We are always at risk. And probably always will be. That is why I will never get "too quit" to post my +1. Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597

Congrats on a great choice! And this might be my favorite info...but a little short, huh? You need to learn how and why we post roll. Then do it. Everyday. Read everything you can on this site. What you'll learn is that you just joined a group of bad-ass quitters...and you might be inspired to share a little more about yourself. If not, no worries. Just stay quit!
What Bean said. Post up. We don't cave, we post and comply.

You can do it Bstearns.

You cant mess it up....unless your not on it....

I quit with you today.

Nice, man. I repeat this to myself every day. Then, because I've lied to myself before, I make a promise to a bunch of quitters so I'm held accountable. It's an infallible system if you use it as intended. Quitting is an honorable past time. Find your quit group and read the welcome center. Post your promise every damn day and don't look back. Welcome!

You are an addict to nicotine. You will always be an addict to nicotine. If you stay quit, then you stop feeding your addiction and have control of your life again. You have to accept that-- no more 'habit' language.

Kids who watch their parents use tobacco products are much more likely to use tobacco products themselves. Kids who parents don't use tobacco products are much less likely to use tobacco products themselves. It really is that simple. Like Dad, like son. I'm sure that sounds familiar. You have to quit for yourself, but the positive benefits move outward like a wave. You don't want your kids to be addicts too.

Congrats again on a great choice. As you know, quitting is done ONE DAY AT A TIME. Nothing else matters. You can't change the last 12 years, so fuck it. Nobody knows the future, so fuck that too. All that matters is today.

I used to get over-whelmed looking down the road. I didn't think that I could stay quit for a week, or six months, or whatever. I couldn't imagine being quit through Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. I didn't believe that I could quit forever. But then someone turned the light on for me...nobody was asking me to quit forever. Quitting forever is hard. That's why we don't do it. We only quit ONE DAY AT A TIME. So when I posted roll today, all I said was that I guaran-fuckin-tee everyone here that when my head hits the pillow tonight, it will do so having been nic free all day today. That's all. No promises on tomorrow, next week or whenever. But as for today...and only today...I will not fucking put that poison in my fucking pie hole. And I'm goddam serious about that.

The best part is that YOU CAN DO THIS TOO!!!

(NOTE TO MODERATORS - PLEASE MERGE THIS INTRO WITH BRYAN'S PREVIOUS INTRO FROM A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO)

That is so you can come back sometime and take pride in your quit.
Bstearn I too grew up watching my dad chew, thought damn that looks good, tried it at 9 liked it. Started chewing at 12 , 38 years later I quit! Outstanding to quit before your son realizes what's really going on but mainly be thankful you quit for yourself! This shits tough but be the man and get this done! ODAAT! EDD! Quit on!
