Today is 1 week. Hasn't been too bad. Cravings come and go, especially when I need to run to the convenience store. But they always go. They last a few minutes and I can keep pushing on with my day.
And that's the way you do it. The time between craves will be even less over time BUT you have to stay on watch. Monster craves can hit you anytime even after years of quit. But that's why we post everyday and continue to add tools to our tool bags to deal with these situations.

None today with you bro. Congrats on one week!!

I am going to try and figure out the roll call.

And no, I do not have any ones phone number, and don't really know how to go about getting them, but would be more than willing to exchange with someone.
I would start by posting roll like this - "BMC521188 Day 4 looking for some quitters digits"

I like getting tipsy and posting "Heavy Meat Quit" to dudes from 2 years ago, makes my day. I am weird.

Do you have other quitter's numbers? A well placed text during a crave can be a life saver. Nice and easy insurance policy IMHO.

Good stuff going on here, dude.

Keep at it... own this shit and embrace the process. You'll have big ups and big downs. No way around it. I need you to always keep in mind... this is you healing. It will take time and, some days, it will take everything you've got.

It's worth it.

I encourage you to take the time to learn how to post roll and... do it. Every day.

Every.
Damn.
Day.

It's proven... getting involved and staying involved = success.
Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten.

Day 4 starting.

Day 3 was... interesting. Mostly fine, but a few really strong cravings. Just kept busy. Had a doctors appointment tonight, she put me on Welbutrin. Today is the first day. I feel like it put me in a fog. But, whatever helps. This weekend should go well. Will be with my wife so won't be able to sneak off and dip. Either way, getting through the day. Keeping busy and staying focused on the goal.

Thanks for everyone and reaching out with support. I don't fully understand the role call system, so until I do, I figure I can keep posting here and kind of keep a diary each day so I can track how I am doing.

Day 2 wasn't bad. At all. I had some cravings, I was a bit cranky, but overall not bad. I decided I was going to wake up a 3:45 AM and go to the gym and burn off some of my anxious energy before work started. Seemed to go well. Bench Pressed 4 sets of 245 for 10 reps, and bunch of other complimentary work outs. Gave my wife my credit and debit cards to take away the temptation of going off to a store and buying a tin. Eliminating the access all together was great. When the cravings came, it was a situation where I had to lean head first into it because I had to. I had no way of buying it. I also think taking multivitamins helped a lot. Brought two more to work today to take just to keep my energy up. I piss out all the excess anyway.

I'm onto day 3. I feel pretty good. Still kind of anxious. Still coming up with a plan on how to get through the day without resorting to dip. And that's the weirdest part. Having to come up with a plan to do daily errands without doing something that is going to kill me. It really is a rewiring process.

Hey BMC - good job making the decision to quit. My oldest is 4.5 years old, my youngest is 2, and I wish I could get back the years of dipping.

The first few days will suck. I'm 36 days past that initial decision, and the time that I get to spend with my kids and wife is so worth the first few days of suck.

Welcome aboard.

bmc, you've made a great decision. You said you've been lurking here for a while, so you probably know a bunch of this - but just in case you missed it:

Here's How You Quit... Ball Is In Your Court Now
What To Expect When You Quit Dipping
Symptoms of Quitting Dip and Chew

The first couple of days can be particularly rough, but trust me - it does get easier as time goes by. Drink lots of water and read around on the site. There's tons of quit information all over this place.

Get on over and post roll in the September quit group. There's a video on Posting Roll on KTC Kill the Can if you need help. Don't worry about doing it wrong - the only wrong way to post roll is to skip posting entirely. Get over there, get your promise to stay nicotine free up, then keep your word for the day.

It's not easy - but it is worth it. Proud to quit with you today.

Day 1
« on: June 21, 2017, 10:23:00 AM »
Hi,

I have been using some form of chew for 10 years. It started in high school with some football teammates, and I was able to go periods in the 10 years where I could not do it for a few weeks or months, but I have never been able to fully quit. My wife is now pregnant with our first kid. And I want to quit. I need to quit. I need to stop making excuses, and being scared, and do it.

I have been looking at this site for a few years trying to make a plan on how to quit. Yesterday, I decided to stop putting it off, pull up from half court and took my shot. I quit. I went my first tobacco free day in 3 years yesterday. It sucked. I was anxious, hungry, pissed off, couldn't stop sweating, didn't want to be at work. But I got through it. Today is my second day day tobacco free. It's probably going to suck. And tomorrow will probably be just as bad. But I'll get through it. Just have to take things one day at a time. And when the cravings strike, one minute at a time.
