I am 60 years old. I have been chewin' Skoal  Silver Creek 2 cans a day since I was 14, working on the family farm.  My ear, nose, throat dr told me yesterday that he cuts out tongues and voice boxes all the time. He looked me in the eye and said it point blank after he examined me. My regular dr had already told me I would die a  lot sooner than I should . But it took the specialist saying it so matter-of-factly, to convince me I gotta do this.   I have had a lot of health issues due to it. I recently  had a 5 month withdrawl from a medicine I had taken for 27 years because of complications with heart disease, parkinsons tremors, and epilepsy.  Since I survived that constant headache, ear ache etc, I am hoping against all hope that I will survive this, too.    Bill C
Welcome to the site Bill.

Read all you can on this site, join your quit group and post roll each day to give your daily promise of no nicotine.

You did not say if you started your quit yet. If you have started your quit and it was after Jan 21 go to the May group, if you haven't yet you certainly have enough reasons to start now.

Thank you for posting your story, but you should post that in May group also. It will be a great reminder to everyone here.

Your at the right place. PM if you need help.

Welcome to the quit.
Welcome Bill. No time is too late. I dipped 22 years, 2 cans a day. We are glad you found us and we will stand beside you the whole way.
Bill, You will survive this too. Its too important! You can do this. Head over to the May group and pledge that you will not dip today...Then worry about tomorrow. Conquer today and then you can conquer tomorrow.
Bill, 30 years of 1-2cans of Copenhagen a day with heath problems to match. If I can quit, so can you. Just do it. Find something else without nicotine to put in your mouth until you get over the initial withdrawal (celery sticks, bread sticks, pretzels, hard candies, seeds, nuts, crackers).

Growing up, I knew a Bill on the tobaco farm where I used to work. I watched him go blind, lose both his feet, and eventually die of kidney failure due to diabetes agrevated by tobaco. He dipped all day right up until he died. Don't be like that Bill.

Fight this like you would an evironmentalist trying to declare you best bottom land as protected wet lands.
Bill, you still with us?
Quit: 8/28/09
