I am on day 5 and I wake up every 2 hours on the hour. Why , no idea. Assume its just my body trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I am able to go right back to sleep though. Anyway keep up the quit. Each day gets a little better. I take 1 benadryl before bed and that helps put me to sleep. Take care.

I went to bed early thinking i could sleep the urge off to dip! Wrong! I tossed and turned. I sat up in bed for no reason. I was cold i was hot and if i had a can of dip at my house last night i would have stuck the whole can in my mouth!!!!! But i didnt. Day 2 here we go!!!!
You are at the height of your nicotine withdrawls. After Day 3 all the nic will be out of your system and it'll be all MENTAL from then on!!! REMEMBER how shitty you feel right now so you will only go through this once!!!!! Stay quit and you will NEVER have to do this again!!! Congratulations on the BEST decision you will ever make!!! You can DO this one day at a time!
kdip - ya beat me to it.

Dawgg this will soon pass if you hang strong and stay away from the lady nic. Sleep will return to normal as well. It may take a little bit, and it was recommended to me by others to try the melatonin, but as I sit here at day 44, I can tell you it is loads better.

And Yes - 1 day at a time to fight it.

Try and get some excercise, even taking a walk before bed will help you through these days. It will get better. Stay quit.
Exercise helps a lot, but your sleep will probably be messed up for a while.

Read up on what to expect when you quit dipping and also the symptoms that occur.

What you're going through is normal, but I can promise you that it will get better if you suck it up and stick with it. Freedom doesn't come without a price, but it's oh so worth it.
What they said!! The only thing I want to add is Remember the suck! If you always carry the awful feeling of withdrawal and suck you are experiencing you will never want to repeat it.

Freedom is Good! Suck is Bad!

Great to have you here!

I ordered some fake stuff on my 2nd day because I thought I really need it.
It took long to reach me so now that I finally have it I don't need it that much anymore

I'm still glad I have some fake stuff ready just in case.

Go for it stay quit and I look forward to seeing you post roll call.

I decided today was the day to stop. I am 36 and have been dipping since I was 18. Has anyone tried the alternatives like Hooch? I order something, Jakes Wintergreen? Cold turkey is tuff!!!!!! 'bang head'
Congrats man. Read everything you can on site and get to know your quit brothers. As for the fake stuff, when I first quit I used Smokey Mountain Original and Wintergreen, I didn't care for any of the fake stuff so I just decided to break the oral fixation of dipping too.. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Great decision, Dawg. Cold turkey is tough but it is the ONLY way. I can't remember how many times I tried weaning or the patch or the wretched nic gum only to fail within a week. Stay the course with cold turkey and each day takes you one step further to freedom.

I actually like hooch and don't hesitate to pop in a fake chew in my car or fishing or after a workout.

Hang in there.

Congrats dawgg. Click the Wecome Center in "pink" at the top left of your screen. You will learn what the site is about, how to post roll, etc.

This site is a place full of guys that have gone through the same feelings your going through right now, and a shitload of them are still pressing on. I'm still somewhat new here, but my suggestion is that you trash every can, spit cup/bottle at home, work, vehicle, etc. Get it out, don't temp yourself with a half full can laying around. Stay as busy as you can these first three days, and take advantage of what sleep you can get.

The vets around here will give you better explanations on how to use this site..I just wanted to let you know that Im here, and I'm quit too, and this shit is hard, but it ain't gonna whip me.

Nice work bro. This is the place. I used the Hooch for a bit when I first quit. I got a sleeve of the Hooch sampler. It helped significantly. I would add exercise and a good diet as well to help get you through. The exercise will help burn off the extra energy you got. See, there is a ton more oxygen getting to your head now that the nicotine isn't constricting all the pathways. The exercise will help you sleep and help you make good decisions the next day.

Hit the 'Welcome Center' in the upper left. That will give you do's and don'ts around here. Read the part about posting roll. That's how we put our work down that we're quit today. One day at a time. Nothing more than that. Seems to work well for the rest of the thousands of addicts here.

Your quit group is November 2012: HERE. Those folks will get you through the thick and thin of being quit. They'll be there when you need someone to lean on. So use them.

My advice is read and stay involved. Lots of support here for anyone that gives it their best. To me, that means being involved with your quit group and helping folks along. Pretty simple stuff. It will open up a whole new kind of day for you bro.

Cold turkey is really tough. But the way I figure is, get all the bullshit out of the way. Nic. withdraws, and the habit of having dip in your mouth. Suck it up early and youll feel better quicker. Just my opinion though. Keep up the quit.
