So I thought I would post an update as to where I am at on the evening of Day 4.

I have definitely still having some cravings while at school, but as soon as I start to have them I jump on here and head to chat and my quit group.

All of the help that I have gotten on here has been amazing and I am more greatful to you all than you can imagine.

I AM GOING TO STAY QUIT.
You may cave two days from now.

I may cave two days from now.

Let's just quit for right now.

Crave in. Crave out.

One day at a time works and it gets a lot better. I was a 32 year addict and had convinced myself for a long time that I could not quit. With the support of this site I am now on my 167th, one day at a time and to tell you the truth, most days the thought of chew does not even cross my mind anymore. It's an unbelievable weight off my back! We are here to support you.

Bean, you are right and that makes sense. I said that in a I am going to bed, lets see how tomorrow goes kind of way. But I get what you are saying and that is what I have been doing with a lot of things in my life the last couple of weeks.

Today has been a long day already and I have the headache that won't go away. It isn't brutally bad, it is just annoying, plus I am a little on edge and jittery. Definitely having more of a physical reaction than I did when I quit drinking.

SDQ - you touched on a something that I wanted to expand on...your comment about "looking forward to Day 2."

First, nothing wrong with that. But be careful to not get ahead of yourself early on. In my previous failed attemps, I would get overwhelmed at the thought of quitting forever...or until next week or next year or whatever. One thing that helped me was the "one day at a time" mentality. I wasn't quitting forever, just for today. For some strange reason, that made it easier at first.

See, you can't change the past. What's done is done. And nobody knows the future. Don't worry about what you cannot control. Just focus on today. We'll deal with tomorrow when it gets here.

This is as much for you as for any other newbies. "One day at a time" cut the problem down to a size I could deal with. Like the joke about how to eat an elephant...one bit at a time. That's how you should approach your quit.

YOU CAN DO IT. Stay strong, stay quit!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement everyone. The last week not drinking has really opened my eyes to a lot of things and luckily I didn't have any bad side affects. I have "quit" dipping for someone else before and I know that this time I need to do it for me. Here's looking forward to day 2 tomorrow.

You can do it. Don't let either of your addict bitches convince you otherwise. There is also a group here that can help with the booze quit but most of the stuff hold the same merit for either.

No matter what you do don't use the shit. Your life depends on it.

Great choice, SDQ (So Damn Quit? Just a hunch).

You can do this, brother. You took the first step, we've got your back the rest of the way. Embrace the suck...learn to enjoy it. It is the feeling of earning your freedom. Post roll everyday, and keep your word. That's all there is to it!!!

Yep, you got a good plan there. Alcohol is a major killer of quits. Hang in there and it will gradually get much, much easier.

I am quit. Above all else, I am quit. I have to be.

Welcome to KTC. Go up to the pink highlighted "Welcome Center" link at the top left of the page and read up each section that explains how and why we do what we do. Then go to the Quit groups page and post your pledge to the Feb 2013 quit group. Get to know those quitters and exchange numbers for added support. You can do this !!!

Laying off the alcohol early in your quit is a good idea. It can be a major trigger.
Enough is enough. Time to take control back from the nic bitch. My HOF speechGR8WHITEBUFFALO

I am DONE
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:23:00 PM »
Hi everyone,

My name is Scott and I am quitting. I have been an off and on user since I was 18 and will be turning 32 in March. I just decided today was the day as I also quit drinking, off and on moderate to heavy drinking, last week so I figure what the heck might as well kill two things at once. Just stumbled across this site and it is what I need.
