The below guys are right. Can't post that you are quit chewing on that gum. Loose the nic and post your promise.

All these fine quitters are right. Stop the madness and get your quit on.

Dump your gum, and any other NIC you may have
Find the Feb 2011 HOF class and post your promise
Keep your promise for that day.
Get up tomorrow and do it again.

Pretty simple.

Papaw - quit the gum. This key is to break the nicotine addiction. I'm sorry, but you haven't accomplished anything...yet. But you can.

Throw that gum away, embrace the suck, feel the fog, and remember it. Post roll, focus on staying nic free that day, then repeat. You just have to kick nic's ass one day at a time. "Yesterday + 1" brother...that is all there is to it.

That gum is for people who are about to go back to the can. Trash it right now. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Howdy everyone. I'm new to this forum. I found this excellent website about 3 or 4 days after qutting on 10/09/10. So 17 days in and it's been rough. This is not my first time quitting. I quit for 3 years until Skoal came out with the vanilla, peach, flavors etc. I figured why not just one chew for a taste and next thing I knew I was back to buying my old wintergreen again. The new stuff gave me heartburn. I think this speaks volumes toward the notion of DO NOT THINK YOU CAN TAKE "ONE LAST" CHEW. You just start the cycle all over again.

I'm using 2mg nicorette gum to get past the worst parts. I know it's still nicotene. But it's helping. I do not allow myself more than 2 pieces a day and am now going all day without any (some days).

I quit because I wanted to. I'm young (46) and I have 9 grandchildren. I'd like to be around to enjoy them as long as I can!!!

Appreciate y'all being here and look forward to being a part of this for the rest of my life.

Welcome Tom,

Take it from a guy who chomped on the nic gum for a whole year before going back to the can, STOP IT !!!
You're just teasing yourself. That "edge" will always be there if you keep feeding Nic to your system.
2 pieces a day? Why bother. Throw the shit away and get it done. You can do it, we are all proof of that.

Using nicotine in any form is not quit. That is one thing you should learn from this excellent web site.
The worse part will be when you go off nicotine 100%, it is called the suck and you are only prolonging the suck.
Quit all nicotine right now and it will take 3 days to clean you out.
yeah, quit the nic and stare at MikeA's avatar for 72 hours, worked for me!!

The nic gum is helping because that is the exact thing you to which you are addicted.

You are going to have to cut the chain at some point, and its going to suck....but that is the reality.

Why not right now?
