Anyway, I was just curious to know how long others fogs had lasted?
I don't know it was, but then my fog is longer than most. :P

Seriously, I think I woke up one day and realized that the fog had lifted. Same thing can happen for you.

The trick is not looking for a "finish line" and just let recovery happen ONE DAY AT A TIME. Adopt the right mental attitude. Turn the tables on the Nic Bitch...EMBRACE the fog!!! Actually feel it...take note of how crappy, restless and figitty you feel. They are just signs of your recovery. And they are a hell of a lot better than chemotherapy, jaw removal and feeding tubes, I bet.

Mentally re-classified the fog as the "feeling of your recovery." I (almost) welcomed the fog because it made me feel like I really was accomplishing something each day. The worse it was made me swear that I would never put myself in it again. Ever.

Congrats on Day 1!!! HUGE. Just focus on today. Anybody can go 1 day, right? That is all you swore to us you would do. And that is all we expect you to do...keep your word for today. Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, etc. We'll deal with them when they get here. The ONLY thing that matters is today.

Look at all of those bad ass quitters in the Quit Groups. All of them got through Day 1...you can too. And nobody on this site promised shit about tomorrow. You don't have to either. All that I am 100% sure of is that I won't fucking use nicotine today. And, I intend to give my word again tomorrow...but that's on tomorrow's to-do list. Nothing I can do about that until tomorrow gets here.

You got this brother. I wish a group like this had been there for me when I was 22. You have a golden opportunity to dodge years of slavery. But it starts with making it through TODAY. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

zap119 I am posting now as a caver. I know that this site is for quitters only, so I will not try to make any excuses. I caved. The nic bitch won this time. I could not be more ashamed of myself. However, I feel obligated to own up to my personal failure. Not only have I let down myself, but I've let down all of my quit brothers and sisters, and all of my loved ones. I was quit for 7 months and 21 days. I am posting this now for all of those that are quit or those who are going to quit. Every day is a battle, you have to quit every single day of your life. We are addicts and every day is a test. I myself have failed, but there is hope for everyone else. Quite like a mother fucker! I'm sorry that I let you all down.
Can't say that is surprises me that you have caved. Those of us that are still here know that most of our past brothers have caved. Without the accountability of this site, most addicts will go right back to the way they were before finding their way here. What does surprise me is that you took the time to come here and post your failure, but did not flush the shit, answer the three questions and post a day 1. By your statement, it does not look like that is your intention and more then likely you will not even come back to see our responses. But in case you do, this is what I have to say to you....

Failures if used appropriately can only make us stronger. You have a choice to make, do you want this failure to define you for the rest of your life as a loser, of are you going to take the knowledge you have gained from this failure and use it to strengthen your resolve in the quit that starts now!
Took Zap's statement out of roll, because roll is for quitters.
Zap,

I saw the post this morning. You need to post back to introductions that you caved and answer the three questions as your ticket back to the site.

(1) What happened to make you cave?

(2) Why did it happen?

(3) What are you going do differently in this quit, to avoid the same thing happening?

These need to be posted to your original introduction page, February 2014 (New Group) and July 2013 (Old Group).
Zap,
You need to reexamine how you approached your last stoppage. ONE you didn't use the words that are drilled into every new person here that hops on our site and says that have quit before. YOU are not and were not QUIT you were STOPPED. There are miles between the two words the first one QUIT takes a site like this and its principles to maintain. Yes the person has to have a paradigm shift to realize that they need to change their mindset. But the over all message is that addicts need a high standard to be held to.

Two your roll posting appears to me that you felt that roll was not that important as you approached your HOF you became spotty and after HOF you blew out of here like a fart in the wind all cured I assume.

Three you have 92 total posts which means you didn't give a shit about yourself enough to post roll much less anyone else to pay it forward or backward. Dude post up your day one in MARCH I believe they are open for business today and...

DRINK THE FUCKING KOOL-AID THIS TIME!
Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB

Just out of curiosity I figured how much I would have saved if I quit at 22 yr old, $35,000!  How messed up is that?  You younger quitters just start putting the dip money away and watch it add up.
Damn. I don't even want to add it up...
And when you really think about it, I would always grab a cup of coffee so I had a none clear spitter for the office that day, and maybe something to eat. I can not remember the last time I stopped at a convenience store... Now I pack my lunch and drink coffee at work... saving more than just the can of dip everyday.

So I'm new, starting on day 1! I'm a 22 year old college student (bear down Arizona). I was a 1/2 a pack a day+ smoker for 3 years starting in high school, then quit for close to a year before taking up dip. I've been dipping now for a couple years and have made attempts to quit before. My most successful previous attempt was 5 days before I caved, I had no idea about the fog and how much it fucking sucks! I never experienced it when I stopped smoking. Anyway, I was just curious to know how long others fogs had lasted?
Welcome Zap. Go post an intro, stay quit, and start posting roll every day. The keys to success with this group are 1) quit nicotine, 2) talk with your "quit brothers" all the time...it makes for good accountability for everyone...everybody around here relies on everybody else, and 3) drink water

The fog is different for different people. It only lasted a couple of days for me, then came back a little during my first week, then came back for a day, then left. It will pass. Just keep drinking water and work out a lot to get through it.

Welcome Zap. Read everything on this site you can. Then read it again. You will find the answers to your questions in here. After you have watched the video on how to post roll, go do it. Welcome aboard. You really have made the right decision...and the fog will lift.

you have the chance to change your life forever.. Wow If I had quit at 22.. Better keep it up bro, cause this is the most important thing you'll ever do. It will be hard, but there are guys on here who dipped  smoked for 30 years and are quit... I'm one of them... We're very lucky to be alive actually, and I celebrate everyday. The fogs, funks, come and go. sometimes a couple days, sometimes a week. Take it one day at a time, and when you feel struggle, exercise like a madman, and you'll feel better.. Make sure your have digits for guys in your group for emergency. post roll, be active on the site, read, and you'll have the army of quit behind you..
quit with you today
