I appreciate all the support. I'm gonna kick this addiction forever. Thank you all. I will keep you posted.
I got great news, brother. You don't have to quit forever!!! Quitting forever is hard. In fact, it is so hard that nobody here even tries to do that. All we do it quit for TODAY. And anybody can quit for 1 little short-ass day, right? Well, that is all there is to it. You got this!!!

Besides, we probably won't live forever. I mean, I'm in shape and shit, but...
This ^^^ is a truth that will change your quit and put it in overdrive.

It took me awhile to really get it. Man, when I did, the game changed. Today is manageable... Forever isn't.
Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten.

Steakbomb18, you are correct in all you say. I have posted roll, and I will stay quit. The question remains however, does using the Smokey Mountain make me less of a quitter? That thought continues to go through my mind. But, it's not tobacco, there's no nicotine, so I guess if it works, it works.
If it helps keep you quit for the time being and it has no nicotine in it... Enjoy the hell out of it and don't worry on it. Eventually you won't even need it. The goal is to get you over this immediate hurdle by being clean and learning what life is with REAL freedom. You're doing all the right things... Keep doing them! Get involved and stay involved.

It works.
Ditto on what my boyz rdad, Starr and AJ just said; all of them are complete studs. Using the fake stuff absolutely does NOT make you any less of a quitter. In fact, it makes you a badass quitter because you are taking a step to not put nicotine in your body. Its no different than the coffee grinds...which was an extremely badass quit move, especially from a newbie who was figuring it out on their own.

I gotta bump what AJ just said, "Get involved and stay involved" ...those 3 guys that responded to you; all in my cell phone. They are not only my quit brothers, they are bonafide friends. That's what getting involved will do for you.

Follow any advice my Brother Steak gives you. (at least anything that has to do with quitting) He understands this addiction like no other. Very smart.
Anyway, Fake Dip, IMO, does NOT make you less of a quitter. Do anything you have to do to not put nicotine in your body just for today. I bought a bunch of fake when I first quit and only used it once. On day 78 I was close to caving. That can of fake saved me that I had in my desk. You can do this. ONE DAY AT A TIME by posting roll EVERYDAY!

You have it right Pharmer. We do anything in our power to keep tobacco and nicotine out of our systems. So if using smokey mountain keeps you from putting the real shit in your mouth then all the more power to you. Nicotine addiction is more of a mind game then it is a physical reaction. You are used to using it and with smokey mountain you are tricking your mind into thinking you are still using. The great thing is that it is not addictive and will not give you cancer.

Hi everyone, I found this website and forum and reading through it has made it easier during this first 7 days of being a quitter. I chewed for about 16 years. I was never a huge user, usually about a can every 4-5 days unless I was at hunting camp, or maybe an outdoor party. My usual time for putting in a dip was when I would play Xbox in the evening. Of course, I also used it at other times, and would always have that fear that I might forget my can, or be somewhere where I couldn't chew. THAT'S WHAT I'M SICK OF! So I guit.

Since I wasn't a huge user, the first 3 days really weren't that bad for me, of course I didn't play Xbox during those days either. Then I bought a new game to play and the craving hit me instantly. I'm talking, before I even sat down, I wanted to put that dip in. I didn't. So I played the game and enjoyed it, but not as much as before. I played again the following night, I wanted dip. Then I realized, it was actually just having something in my lip that I was craving. So, and this is weird I admit, I got some coffee grinds and put them in my lip. It satisfied me, sort of.

I had heard of the herbal snuffs before, and even tried one probably 18 years ago, before I ever started dipping, and I didn't like it. But, from reading on this website, it seemed that it has been improved. So, I thought if the urge came again, maybe I'd try it. I played Xbox again last night, the urge came, so I went to the store and bought some Smokey Mountain Wintergreen. It's pretty darn good, and it allowed me to enjoy my game. But, I can't help but think that using it is just a crutch, and another habit that I will have to break.

I'm sorry if I've rambled, but I feel better just typing out this message. Thanks.
Great intro Pharmer and kudos for having the street smarts to find a replacement for the dip/nicotine or to avoid the trigger in totality. That is what I call "actively" quitting. In time that becomes second nature because being quit becomes who you are.

With that said, I think you need to come to a realization. Even though you dipped 1 can per 4-5 days, you're still just as much of an addict as the guy dipping 2 cans/day.

- Fear of forgetting the can
- Fear of being somewhere you couldn't chew
- (and the best one you wrote) - regarding your new game "So I played the game and enjoyed it, but not as much as before."

Pure addict talk right there. Especially the one about thinking nicotine/dip makes a video game more enjoyable. I point these out only to add to your resolve. You need to keep actively quitting and you need to understand your addiction and own your quit. One way to actively quit, and the most important, is to post roll. Make that promise every day to yourself and to KTC that you will not use nicotine for that day. This is the cornerstone of quitting and if you are a man of your word, the benefits you will reap far outweigh the pitfalls of nicotine. Bar none.
